However it’s all second even third hand opinion.
Interesting and report worthy
but nonetheless ...
It’s wishful thinking, Ich. Anything that may provide the merest whiff of keeping us tied to the EU in any way at all gets some people over-excited.

12.01. Boris doesn't do sensible things though Danny.
Referring to the original link.

As I posted earlier there is w lot of guff talked about democrats and trade deals.
No doubt the new administration will prioritise improving links with the EU, and actually that is good news all round.
But the UK hosts the G7 and also the climate change talks, a subject Johnson is much closer to Democrat thinking on. Suspicion and anger over Brexit will fade
“It’s wishful thinking, Ich”

What is?
That we need to wait for the result of the US election before deciding our path with Europe.
I don't see why it's wishful thinking to suggest that the UK and EU would be better-placed if there's at least some sort of trade deal in place post-Brexit.

I'd also like to point out that Johnson has three times set a deadline for talks to conclude, and three times that deadline has passed without talks actually finishing. Put bluntly, the only people who seriously want talks to end prematurely are those who won't have to bear any responsibility for the consequences.
The link is about someone speculating that the EU might think the PM is delaying a deal to see if Trump is re-elected.
And suggests that Johnson is hoping that happens.
That certainly WOULD be wishful thinking on a grand scale, but as I’ve already said I don’t believe it’s the case.

Think before next year is out ,the UK will be begging the E/U to let them rejoin.
//I don't see why it's wishful thinking to suggest that the UK and EU would be better-placed if there's at least some sort of trade deal in place post-Brexit. //

But that isn't the crux of the wish here, is it. This is about waiting for the result of the US elections.
well - - you can attend to the wishful thinking of Naomi
or look at the facts
or both
Barnier is staying ( overnigh ) in London - and I suggest that is because a settlement is near
OK nearer

and a settlement is so much more sensible than a break
we will wonder why we forced / were forced to go to the wall....
ho hum - just a thought on a sunday afternoon
gulliver, //Think before next year is out ,the UK will be begging the E/U to let them rejoin. //

I know you live abroad. Is Cloud Cuckoo Land in the Mediterranean?
a deal between two parties is a better option
is wishful thinking - oh well -
it is AB and nothing has to make sense ( and usually doesnt)
ever
hmm the leave portion was pretty hard line Gully

When the U/K do eventually have to rejoin the the E/U, which is inevitable, the E/U will have a field day.
The EU will be waiting a bloody long time for its field day, then.
Gulliver, the UK will never rejoun the EU.What planet are you on?
It’s quite possible the UK could rejoin the EU eventually.
It won’t happen soon, but it’s rather foolish to say “never”
Gulliver, //When the U/K do eventually have to rejoin the the E/U//

Why do you think the UK will ‘have’ to rejoin the EU? Of the couple of hundred countries in the world only 27 are members of the EU. How do you think the rest manage without the dubious benefits of that motley organisation?
