How Can Labour Recover?

I’ve just listened to a Labour spokeswoman (no idea who she was) saying that the way for Labour to recover is to return to the hard left. What is it they don’t understand?

If you were making decisions for Labour what changes would you implement to return them to a modicum of popularity?

NJ do you consider Johnson as being representative of the Conservative Party? If you do, that would show the world what you really think of the electorate, and I think that the electorate are really gagging to know - that's why they are here on AB.

Eton, Oxford (Classics), wealthy in his own right - an archetypical Tory and there is absolutely nothing wrong with those three attributes.

I did when he became PM because he espoused what I believe to be Tory values. But I don't now.

The policies that he and his government now promotes are not Conservative at all. It has thrown Northern Ireland to the dogs as a part of the Brexit agreement (thus trashing the “Unionist” part of the Tory party’s title); it continues to preside over a now largely unnecessary regime of Draconian personal restrictions, the likes of which this country has never seen, even in wartime; it promotes a programme of huge public spending which will inevitably lead to higher taxes; it plans to drastically alter the lifestyles of UK citizens and threaten UK competitiveness with its ridiculous and largely pointless environmental targets; it continues to build “Big Government” both nationally and locally.

But that said, if a million quid rode on it, I'd include him in the tally of Tory PMs. :-)

if we are ever in a situation where the government is right about everything then there won't be a need for an opposition or even politics at all... because we would be living in utopia. I don't think that's the case... do you?
