they have spent the last 20 years arming and training the Afghans. I'm sure Nato together would have supplied them all the kit they needed. It's clear they do not think enough of their own country to fight for it.

This is relative, there are better answers on here but it's rare that gulliver ever says anything remotely accurate or any sort of reasoned sentence so I'm going got go out on a limb here and award a rare BA, well done gully wear with pride.
You quite rightly point out that Afghanistan has millions of able bodied men who appear reluctant to raise arms and defend themselves against fanatics and terrorists. Add the European countries and the U.K. in particular to that list. Once upon a time nothing would have stopped the fit and able of this Country from rising up in self defence. Those times have passed. Decades of Labour and Liberal 5th column academics has seen to it.
Great bit of kit them Toyota pickups, and the odd moped. You can take a country over in twenty days, and of course you need a pair of clarks summer slip on's

Blair ... the font of all of the U.K.'s social and security issues.
Could it be that they are sick of war?
Just a thought.
And what are they supposed to defend themselves with against an organisation that’s taken most of the country already

The government has tora... the average person has not. Try to have some understanding for people who are not you...

Tora,
The Afghan Government was a puppet and far from perfect. The elections were rigged. When it came to it, the Government weren’t worth defending, so no one fought.
Question Author
fine, then they can't complain, end of.
// then they can't complain //

The people who worked with and for the US and British can complain because they have been abandoned to an unknown fate.
The vast majority of Afghans will be pleased that the foreign invaders are gone.
The situation in Afghanistan was very bad. To quote Yaz and D:Ream, The only way is up, and Things can only get better.
i think you are being very naive toratora. If the government and army and police are collapsing around you... of course you don't stay and fight... what would be the point? To make comfy westerners happy? I wouldn't rush to the battlefield when the army has abandoned it... I think you'd have to be mad to do that.
