I think that the lady was asking where her family originated from. I think that is a genuine question, maybe not the time nor the place but it is hardly a major issue.

naomi - // AH, your inverted snobbery is showing again. //

And so is your adoration of the 'well-bred'.

We all have our attitudes, but I am happy to accept mine don't include looking for dirt to discredit someone who has upset someone I believe merits defence.
Perseverer, she would have fulfilled such a role countless times. As I said earlier chatting to people and finding out about them is part of a lady in waiting’s remit. It gives the queen something to talk about with her guests.
AH, you don’t look for dirt to disparage people. You make it up - as evidenced by your earlier disgraceful tirade.
//Sixty years of meeting people of all colours, creeds, and nationalities - and this the first complaint.//

She is also a committed Christian and attends her local Church regularly and consistently. She is highly regarded there by the rest of the congregation. A congregation that is almost 90% black.

As far as I can see, no-one is devoting a tenth of the time to trashing Lady Hussey's reputation, as they are to Ms Fulani's.

So your defence of her as being a Christian who (gasp!) worships with black people, is as pointless as it is bizarre.
Nowadays i thought it was deemed bad taste to wear clothes to try and look like people from other countries.

That's OK then, because I 'make it up' as you put it, that means the dirt-diggers are justified in their nasty pointless bizarre crusade?

I don't think so.
fripfrip - // Nowadays i thought it was deemed bad taste to wear clothes to try and look like people from other countries. //

Welcome to the Twilight Zone - feel free to add that little notion to funeral pyre on which they are about to incinerate what's left of Ms Fulani's public persona.
No, AH, it’s not alright to make it up.
Togo - //She is also a committed Christian and attends her local Church regularly and consistently. //

Another assumption you have created to bolster your heroine's image.

I attend my local church regularly and consistently, but I am not a Christian.

It appears to be no impediment to you, and those who assist you in your flights of fancy on this thread.
NAOMI, how is the information gathered by the now, ex-Ladies-in-Waiting, passed to the host of the event?

It might be seen as bad taste if your aren't from or have no links to that particular culture, such as white people smearing themselves with body paint going to a fancy dress party as a Native American (say).
Fripfrip, you’re quite right. It’s called cultural appropriation - and it is frowned upon in many quarters.
Ever heard of talking, Corby?
naomi - // Fripfrip, you’re quite right. It’s called cultural appropriation - and it is frowned upon in many quarters. //

And as a concept, 'cultural appropriation' is virtually the definition of woke-ism, which you despise regularly on this site.

Funny how it becomes something else you can use to beat Ms Fulani with when it suits your ... what's your word of choice ... oh yes - agenda.
drmorgans - // It might be seen as bad taste if your aren't from or have no links to that particular culture, such as white people smearing themselves with body paint going to a fancy dress party as a Native American (say). //

At last, a voice of sanity!

Can you stick around - this thread is moving rapidly into some sort of parallel universe, where basic tenets like facts and evidence are subsumed by the fervent need to destroy the reputation of someone none of us had heard of this time last week.
I felt no need to paint myself with wode or wear a cheong sam the last time I met a royal person or invent a name so why did Ms Headly if it was not necessary. She dressed like that she should expect interest and comments.
AH, you shoot yourself in the foot when you jump to conclusions. I do despise such nonsense. Hate it in fact. That doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.
lady-janine - // I felt no need to paint myself with wode or wear a cheong sam the last time I met a royal person or invent a name so why did Ms Headly if it was not necessary. She dressed like that she should expect interest and comments. //

Welcome back, it appears your lie down in a darkened room has not calmed your tendency to make an assumption about why a total stranger dressed as she did to attend a function.

But then, assuming nonsense and presenting it as fact is becoming a feature of your posts on here.
