Why can't we all get on?

I have not been here long but get increasingly frustrated by the unhelpful and almost racist comments of some people on here.

Why can't all the people in this country live in peace. To constantly pick on muslims is very unfair. They only came here for a better life and I think it is the duty of all British people to ensure that they integrate as best as possible.

We should all go along to our local mosque and ask what we can do to help the muslim community. Maybe we could give them financial help or prey along side them to give them some sort of comfort during their hardship due to the narrow minded bigots in this country.

Perhaps it would help if people better understood islam. Maybe it would be good if islam was taught in our schools. I think that this would help us to understand muslims better and make for a better and more understanding society.

If we don't act now, we risk inflaming the extremists muslims. Better to spiritually connect with those that would advocate terrorism and try to lure them away from extremism.

I can't believe that some people on here are accusing the rest of being small-minded bigots and racists. Just look at the naivety of the question. How can you possibly stand up for Emma when she obviously has the brain of a 12 year old. Either that or she's running for the Miss World competition this year.

Carry on in your campaign for World peace dear. It'll never happen in your lifetime.
The answer to the question is - of course - Emma is absolutely correct. Learning a bit more about Islam and visiting mosques couldn't do any harm could it?

This demonisation of Muslims is getting really ugly. India Knight wrote an interesting article in The Sunday Times 'Muslims are the new Jews' comparing many people's views on Muslims - being 'different' 'weird' 'not fitting in' to the type of language that the Nazis used when speaking about Jews.

She wasn't speaking specifically about Answerbank but I reckon she must have had a quick read through all your inane ramblings. If I had a penny for every time I heard "well i'd like to see what would happen if i went to Saudia Arabia and did that!" I'd...well, I'd have 7.83.

admarlow, You are more than welcome to go to a mosque. They wont bar you. However i doubt you will. As for muslims going to churches, the churches will allow them too and there are any number of muslim children around the world who go to christian schools and their churches.

as for justification for 9/11 there is no justification for any terrorism (including the britsih sponsored terrorism around the world for the past 300 years, see the suez crisis on BBC 2 on mondays, you will be a proud brit then). But for a lesson on why it happened cast your eye back to the Plaestinian problem and the palestinian spiritual leader who was killed by the israelis a few weeks before 9/11. It was only a trigger point for something that has been happening in the middle east (american presence in saudi amongst them) for more than 15 years. The crows came home to roost on 9/11. You cant play russian roulette for decades and hope nothing happens.

so admarlow i see you are green.....been banned again....you are the epitome of racist and bigotted views on this site so get lost......
or is it just convenient that they are dead, and justifies your countries involvement in iraq. so there will be no convictions, as in your ten plane similtanious hijacking plot. but is doing wonders in creating the spread of racially charged fear and loathing throughout your cities. just a thought .
I have several friends who are Muslims and they are good people. However, there are numerous born and bred "Christian", white English scumbags who are antisocial and add nothing to our society. The point is that I would rather chuck out the latter and welcome to our country the good Muslims (which most of them are in my experience).

btw: I am white, English and not a Muslim and have no desire to become a Muslim.
Dom my challange to you please show a link to one racist statement I have ever made on ANY website or is this just another of the names you throw at people when they prove you wrong. Answerbank does need 2 sides to an arugement but it doesn't neer obnoxious name callers such as yourself, as any decent person surly realises.
Also, I meant to say, Emma may sound a little naive but wouldn't the world be such a wonderful place if everyone was like her. Good on you Emma.
It sickens me that we're so politically incorrect we're not allowed to say what we really think.

Let's be honest with ourselves here, British white people get drunk and beat people up. All of them. I've seen them do it in the news and on Ibiza Uncovered. And so have you.

But all these loony bleeding-heart liberals think that's me being racist. It's not. But white pople in this country are basically boozy thugs with kebab-stains down their tops.

They all shave their heads as well and run off from taxis without paying. You know it and I know it.

And they think we should all wear Burberry too. We never used to wear it but now it's everywhere you look. Why can't they wear what I wear?

I suggest Emma goes to her local Mosque and tries to join in. I am sure none of the so called racist bigots on here would try to deter her but she will certainly get an unwelcome shock from her would be "friends"

Try it Emma then let us know how you got on.
And are we really a Christian country?

I know the 2001 census had 70% of us down as Christians but I suspect that's more to do with people wanting to be seen as 'good'.

In fact, 6% of the population go to church on a sunday.

I wonder how many people would claim to be Christian if it wasn't associated with shovelling turkey and chocolate eggs down our faces twice a year.

If I wanted to live in a Christian country, I'd move to the Philipines.

Bill,

I went to Finsbury Park mosque in the summer, for nothing more than a look round.

Yes, there were a few glances in my direction - but then again I stood out, being white - but I was actually approached by a man who asked me if I'd been before and was genuinely friendly.

Have you ever been Bill? Pal?
an unwelcome shock billbarlow? why would that 'certainly' happen? What do you think goes on there?

Do tell me, it'll save me buying today's Daily Mail.
im sure that 99% of mosques are the same as our churches but are you really saying that I wouldn't get any trouble going to Finsbury park mosque..are any of you from London??
I have posted a suggestion. I am not going to get involved in lengthy arguements with people I consider do not live in the real world.

And yes I have been
Pipe down then. There's a good lad.
I used to live about five minutes walk from the Finsbury Park mosque, but I wouldn't go for the same reason I would go to a CofE or Catholic church...I just don't subscribe to any religion.

I do believe in the Madonna though...but not the same one that the Catholics pray to.
NJOK if you went to finsbury park (im just talking about the area now) and found it to be nice, you are a lying!!! Finsbury Park is a dump full of crackheads and run down shops. And as for being approached by a nice man, was he trying to sell you dope any chance!!! I drive trrough (at speed with to doors locked) the area often and you comments are pure fiction. As for the mosque being a nice place I did this test ...I went onto google news and typed Finsbury Park Mosque and nothing more..take a look...
http://news.google.co.uk/nwshp?hl=en&tab=wn&q= finsbury%20park%20mosque
