Have just heard that the Portugese police are intending to charge Kate McCann in connection with Madeline's disappearance. Is this anything to do with the DNA evidence that was sent for examination in the UK? Anyway, I can't believe that either parent had anything to do with it. What do other AB'ers think?

I don't think she's being charged, she's being moved to suspect level which gives police more powers to question but also her more powers to refuse to answer questions and have legal representation.

John - Quite alarming but lets not forget there is no evidence of her being abducted, mother loses it kills her, hides body, dumps it later, I've heard stranger things.

They were about to leave the country so the Old bill were probably thinkning to get a last minute interview. If they are treated as a suspect they have more rights - eg to refuse to answer questions and have a lawyer present as opposed to being a witness.

It's all 'alleged' at the moment though isn't it. That point hasn't been established as fact.

they are saying blood of madelines was found in a car the mccanns had rented 3 weeks after her disappearance. so where the hell did they keep the body until then, plus how did they stop any papparazi seeing this??

I cannot believe that Kate McCann had anything to do with her daughters disappearance its just ludicrous. My opinion is that the police have made such a complete mess of the investigation they are desperate to charge someone.

happens all the time parents abusing kids unfortunately. bet you will find that most childkillers are the parents of the victim.

I'm finding the whole thing shocking, but can't get past the rumours and the truth, we have to remember that the poltugees police are different, thay are keeping their cards to their chest.

I can't imagin them having anything to do with it, but I'm a loving mother and find it hard to comprehend, but it does happen!

I'm keeping an open mind, i've been wrong so far!

Yes I know that parents do abuse their children sometimes but in this case I don't think so. We all know she was foolish in the first place by leaving Maddie but killing her no never.

Cannot believe some of the answers on here hope they are not on a jury when im in the dock the McCanns are not guilty and it will be proved at some point

Only a few people now the absolute truth and it aint us.

I think it's hard to decide what is the truth, from what I understand, the only reason they made her a suspect is to as her 22 questions, which they couldn't before.

This might be just a way of eliminating her out of the inquiry???
