Another week, another puzzle, another debut.
Straightforward and fairly easy. Once the phrase is found everything falls neatly.

Yes starwalker, another one that's not been particularly demanding. I feel slightly unsatisfied, I'm afraid, as this isn't the normal 'The Listener' standard. However, I wonder whether we'll have some particularly devilish puzzles in November and December to whittle down the 'all-corrects'.

First time in the Friday club for me! Although I'm not happy with 10d where the wordplay does not seem to correspond with the BRB unless I am reading it wrongly.

Yes, indeed, straightforward and fairly easy, as you say, Starwalker but fine clues and an enjoyable 'phrase find' at the end. How good it is that the new team are introducing lots of new compilers.

Fun but a bit too straightforward. First time I've finished before drinks time. However I do wonder about one of the seven unclued entries, which seems to mean the opposite of what it should, and how can seven entries be equally divided? Maybe it's not as straightforward as I thought. I'd better have that drink.

contendo - I think it easy to guess which one of the 7 you mean. I couldn't find that connection in the BRB either but it was shown in Bradfords (my ed. 2010) so I was happy.

Contendo: check the relevant theme word in BRB - I thought it was weird too. Barely a twist in sight on this one, hence the early posts today. Completed here in between times and without concentrating hard. Let's not complain too much, though, eh? Listener bite back, and hard!

That should have been Listeners plural, of course. And the theme word to check is one of the "hidden" ones.

contendo, if you also examine the definitions of each of the unclued entries in chambers you will see how 7 can be divided by 2

This must be my nearest ever to the Friday club. I have a full grid apart from 3 squares. The trouble is I have no idea about the phrase or what I am really doing. However, with THREE of the new BRB on offer as prizes, it's definitely worth pressing on, apart from the fact that I normally count completing it by the end of Sunday a major success, and I am very near.
Off to Spain next week, so I'll look in again in a fortnight.

A very nice puzzle. Lovely clues and no irritating word search at the end.
Easy it may have been for some but afaic "enjoyable" means more.

You could have broken RR's record from last week (and without even knowing the answers beforehand!) - several clues made me smile - thanks DandA for these - but definitely not our hardest challenge to date

maybe a bit of a 35 8 9 (which was a 17<, some might say) - Anybody got any tips for the nags tomorrow? The ABers are in flying form of late .....
