The Club is now Open
Good evening and welcome everyone.
How wonderful it is to return to dear old Blighty after a short sojourn in foreign parts.
Lordalex and I have had a restful holiday but we are always glad to return home to roost in our own home which has been so lovingly looked after by our ancient retainers.

The wine cellar seems a little depleted, but worry not, dear friends, we are expecting a new shipment very soon, so no need to hold back on the tailcocks.

I do hope that all went well during our absence and that there were no incidents involving the emergency services. (I have not had time to access the minute book.)

We have brought back with us several treats for the raffle:

A string of garlic
A stripey jersey
A beret
A tin of escargots (within date)

I look forward to tonight's talk, which I believe to be entitled :
'Lancashire Peelers, what are they for ?'
or was it
'Lancashire Heelers, what are they ?'
Time will tell, no doubt.

Had a couple of mamya's "Golden Stars" mainly because of the Star content, but now the world is whizzing round me and I feel decidedly giddy Must sit down, whose lap is available?
Question Author
OOOH Do you think you're starting to feel the 'Rapture' Starry ?

I can't feel anything here.
Another tailcock, please.
These Golden Stars* have certainly brightened up my evening. Do you have nibbles to match?
mlady - with the greatest of respect think if earth stopped rotating we would slide off at a great rate of knots - Lady that told me about rumours was not pulling my leg
Golden Wonders? perhaps?
Question Author
Logical, TonyV.
Does the V stand for Vulcan ?

Perhaps the pheasant was taking the ham out of you ?
I did wonder ladya, but it's all right now I'm getting used to it. Actually, if someone did let me sit on their lap I might feel the rapture all over again, although when they see how old I am, they usually back away.
Re the comb and paper, I used to be very good at that. Newspaper is the best I believe. It makes your upper lip go all itchy - not a very pleasant sensation, and I'm having enough sensations coping with these raptures. When I first read it I thought the word was raptors which is to do with prehistoric thingys, now that might be interesting.
Evening all am just arriving as have just recovered from celebrating last night.Have brought some left-over birthday cake but I am afraid the grandchildren licked the icing off. Also some small candles as they woud not all fit on the cake

As the evening wears on , you may get lucky with a lap, Starry.

I must beg to differ re the comb and paper.....it has to be Izal.

Wonder if anyone plays the spoons ? lordalex was a demon on the spoons in his youth, used to carry a matched pair around with him on the offchance that someone woudl ask him to have a crack.
Question Author
Hell Alex , how lovely to see you ,
I hope your burday was a great success and that you got loads of presents.

I don't think you shoudl light the candles as it might be a fire hazard...
Question Author
Ooops, sorry, meant hellO Alex, not hell, Alex....
Izal smells funny ladya. I know it is only disinfectant but one wonders where it might have been.
I thought I might position the candles round the moat for those who wish to venture outside this evening
Candles, matches and fireworks! We really need a bucket of sand for the Save Tee Elf.
Question Author
I know where you're coming from, Starry....but it is the best for music making.
has mama got any drinks fixed yet?
Question Author
What a lovety idea, Alexanderd...twinkling candles round the moat...how romantic....

I think the Safe Tee Elf has been locked in the oubliette ...and quite right too, interfering busybody that he is.
Evening All,
My apologies for being late everyone..
I have plenty of nibbles this week, loads of cheese, mini thai salmon fishcakes and my usual load of popcorn, crisps and peanuts.

I will need PLENTY of tailcocks this evening as after a nasty fall down the stairs earlier today..I need to numb the pain :(

Oh and i want to buy 20 tickets...i really want that stripey jersey :)
