Good evening and welcome to tonight's meeting of the Mad Over Fifties Club.
At the moment Nungate Towers are bathed in evening sunlight, which is reflected on the waters of the lake (which resembles a mill pond) The rowing boats are ready and waiting for members to arrive and perhaps take them out for a trip across to the island in the middle. Tonight's tailcock will be the Nonesuch, (there's never been anything like this before!) The "hot plate special" is my very own recipe for meatloaf accompanied with all the usual side dishes or salad! As for the pudding trolley, it is awash with delicious ice cream sundaes, all you have to do is choose your favourite. Of course we have, as always, a selection of canopies and volley vonts. The Minstrels are tuning up in the gallery ready to assail us with the usual selection of Madrigals and fugues, also playing in the ballroom will be our favourite local band the Tone Deafs with a selection of '60's covers! Such fun! The hot tub is bubbling away madly on the north tower, (naturally the mini bar has been replenished - well done Frank) the bungee is ready for bouncing, the gardens are looking splendid and it is a lovely evening for a stroll) The rowing boats are lined up and ready for use, as are the cars on the race track, anyone wishing to go for a swim both pools are fully set up (cossies are available)
For tonight's rofl I have : 6 rolls of tinsel
2 tons of snow
Sundry carrots (limp)
Bucket of coal lumps
Dozen Christmas crackers (6 used)
3 Barrels of Eggnog
Truly a fine pile of goodies tonight!
A warm welcome awaits all who dare enter these portals
Dr Who? I'd like Tom Chambers or Janet Street Porter
By Jove, she'd terrify the Daleks and we'd never be invaded again!
Daisy, I'm with you all the way on reading as a hobby but I'll pass on the gardening, thank you. I must have been in the chocolate aisle when the green fingers were handed out
the island has a chronic strays problem -- dogs and cats all over the place, with no owners
there is a cat here at the hotel with five kittens ... they are the most adorable little darlings, and almost every guest likes to make a fuss of them and feed them
Tobletone? It sounds like another version of our favourite car fan. You all know what I meant.
And I reluctantly put my hand up and admit to reading the 'Grey' books and they are indeed a load of trot. Curiosity killed the cat, sheer boredom brought it back.
Give me a good Freddie Forsyth any day
Well if you can bring one home and your really want to you'll need to see a vet and go through all the hoops to do so. Strictly between us, we are on the verge of adopting another kitten - we haven't told best beloved yet but we saw the little chap last night and it was love at first sight! Now this is just me, but if you were to bring one back try and make it a black one. They are seemingly disliked across the Med and it has been known that drivers will go out of their way to knock one down (I heard this in Menorca)
even here black cats are quite often overlooked - we have two and this little kitten will make it three.
we are not seriously thinking of having one, all the paperwork and costs involved with vets, transport and quarantine are putting us off - she is just thinking with her heart
We went to a Cat rescue place in Menorca when we were there, Sqad I believe knows the lady in charge - Queenie flipped when we went to visit the cats and eventually we agreed to let her have one, but we waited until we got home before rehoming another rescue cat.
