Jno when you go through a proxy server the BBC or YouTube or whoever won't be able to tell what country you're in and so you will be able to see programmes and clips that would otherwise not have been available to viewers in your country. Shame that it's illegal and risky...very frustrating.
I stumbled across a Christmas market downtown yesterday, with essentially the same vendors that were here for the International Market in May. What does this mean? It means more Dutch cheese for me, way-hay! And I don't even like Gouda cheese very much... but the one these people sell, it's so good. They use a word that sounds something like 'beleichen' (can't find how to spell it) that means 'well stored'. The thing is I loooove aromatic cheese but I hate the salt grains that usually come with it, but in this 'beleichen' cheese there are none so I'm in cheese heaven...
I passed you puppy bonding info on to youngest half-sis Woofy but she can't be stopped, particularly not now that she has actually met her baby girl... http://i47.tinypic.com/fthf5z.jpg (and marked her back with red nail polish...!)

Have just got daughter re-connected to the internet by phoning telefonica and insisting that it's done now, daughter hasn't quite got the hang of being firm yet. When the phone call to them is finished they ask it it was helpful, so I said No and they had been very rude, so they phoned me straight back and it all got sorted in an hour instead of 24/48hrs which they quote.
The darling abandoned teen cat which has been hanging round me all summer is now re-homed (after escaping and running back to me) and seems to be settling down.
Just could not take on another cat, they are so tieing(?) and can last for years.

That's Leptis Magna in Libya, a Roman/Carthaginian site. You can see how much lower it is than the surrounding level. That's how deep they'd have to dig to excavate the whole site. And it's a couple of miles square. They've only uncovered small bits - theatre, baths. There's a whole city under there. The emperor Septimius Severus was born here and he poured lots of Roman funds into blinging it up.

the souqs in Tripoli. We walked out on the official museumtour and told the guide we'd see him at the coach in an hour. He wasn't a happy bunny. They exercise very strict discipline over their tours. Everyone else was very jealous that we'd done it because they'd all wanted to see the souqs too. They were only just opening - it was 10am but in a socialist country like this they don't have to be in their shops by dawn.

Parc Guell in Barcelona, designed by Gaudi, which we clambered up steep streets to reach. Didn't know about the escalators then. Grrr

Malta. Valletta seemed to have millions of these balcony windows.

Fab-tastic pics jno.I know what you mean jude.....just a bit of sun please.!Hello dolly,its good to see you back in town..!thankyou so much for your birthday wishes.I keep going back to shaneys animated greeting card...its just fab.Cant wait for the ferry to start at easter going to wales,they have some lovely fishing villages.They have been showing the darling buds of may on sky..just love that series. its form shakespeare you know. Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate;
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer's lease hath all too short a date;
Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,
And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;
And every fair from fair sometime declines,
By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;
But thy eternal summer shall not fade,
Nor lose possession of that fair thou ow'st;
Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,
When in eternal lines to time thou grow'st:
So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,
So long lives this, and this gives life to thee.
–William Shakespeare

oh yes, Summer's Lease was a TV series too... that Shakespeare, busy writing for television ahead of his time...
neti, no need to cover heads or faces, but shoulders and knees yes. Bare lower arms seemed to be allowed. Local womenmostly covered everything except faces, but not with total hijabs, just long dresses or coats.

Good day all, here I is, I've been busy being domestic and I'm krackered...yeh, I know...
http://www.ewoodsigns...wont-kill-you.jpg....
but I took a chance anyway & it took me half a fluffing day yesterday to defrost the freezer but it's got twice the capacity now...I've got loads more boxes to tick, hardly any xmas shopping done ( as usual)...
Do any of you shop online for food? It's not something I've ever done but after a toddle to the co-op to find half empty shelves I'm considering it...Unless you want a cabbage the size of a bl00dy spacehopper covered in Llloyd Grossman pasta sauce you're out of luck round here.... I need one of those butlers.. [sigh].
Pleased you caught up with us at last Dolly! I've been mailing you for munfs, I probably fell through the holes in your in tray.
Beautiful pics jno, I love Parc Guell & the Gaudi mosaics but I'm a bit concerned about that stinkhorn fungus on top of the gingerbread house.
Hope you enjoyed your belated party Vinny...I watched a Darling Buds on one of the freeview channels t'other day but it's no good trying to spout Shakespeare "Shall I compare 'ee to a summer's day, ooh arrrrr?" :o) ....it's too late to eddificate us lot... except for jno, of course, who knows EVERYthing....she must be a teenager.

OOOh Vinny you nearly had me in tears with your Shakespeare. It reminded me so much of my Dad who even in his 92nd year was quoting him to me. I don't know where he learnt it, should have asked him shouldn't I? There are lots of things you'd wished you spoken to your parents about after they have gone.
Well neti, the last time I had the urge to be domestic was in 1975 when I was about to go into labour with Tarquin...can't say that's the reason now....'tis nearly xmas tho....[hmmm, tries to recall having a heavenly experience about 9 months ago]. Is your cooker really that big? get one of these... http://2.bp.blogspot..../01-08-08_1841.jpg...
it's all you need to warm your soup up...and no, I don't want a stroke thanks...but I know a man....

Hey, what's with all this cleaning?? Have I got to join in?
Lovely photos jno. That blue sky looks so wonderful.
Put yet more bulbs in yesterday. No more this year. The weather was great but today it's back to grey and horrid!! I have just been for part 2 of my MOT. My blood is all OK, my wee sample showed no problems, my kidneys are working better than they were two years ago, my cholesterol is 5, my weight is 5lb over what is suggested but not worth getting worried about, but my blood pressure is still high, despite medication. They put that down to my anxious personality and are not too worried but I have to go back in a month just to have my BP taken again. Phew, glad that's over. Have to go for my hip Xrays on Friday.
Off to Norwich with my very good friend tomorrow and am looking forward to that Italian. Just wondering if I could just peek at a few jumpers!!!

Well I've been shopping today at Sainsburys and they had 25% of all clothing. I bought 3 items. 1 short jumper 1 long new type jumper which was £16 and a pair of jeans. when I got home I found that I hadn't been charged for the £16 jumper. I was very tempted to keep it but conscience got the better of me and I took it back for which I received a pot plant for my honesty. How nice was that It's a Kalanchoe and haven't the faintest idea what to do with it.
