The family of Adam and Eve
119 Answers
The theory of the evolution of man is the product of science at its most ridiculous. Adam and Eve were two adult human beings created by God just after he created the universe. They were the first and only people on the planet, and they were the forebears of the whole human race.
So how do creationists account for the diverse physical appearances of the assortment of peoples inhabiting the earth today? It stands to reason that most of them do not bear a family resemblance.

That can't be right. Evolution is nonsense.
//It seems possible that the 'great migration' by early humans out of Africa may have involved very few people - maybe only 100, as I understand it.//
But they would all have been members of the same family. Where did the diversity come from?

Who cares? Its just a story...and a particularly monotonous one at that.
If anyone is feeble enough to believe the writings of the odd bloke who could write about the supposed happenings in the past, then we should be kind and let them dribble in peace.......providing they dont try and impose their delusions on the rest of us against our will.
These are old storys....just once consider once when you have read in a newpaper something about which you are factually familiar....there are always mistakes....
Also someone sees say a minor car crash and tells the tale.....by the time the sixth person tells you the 'facts' it was a multiple fatality crash.
People embellish passed on accounts and as such the bible is cojones.
Some of the messages within are of use and sensible, take those on board and live your life in a balanced way.

I don't think the Bible gives a time frame, though an archbishop calculated it at 4004 BC, which is possibly incorrect.
As to where the diversity came from: from evolution. But that answer applies regardless of whether you take a scientific or religious approach. I'm suggesting the 'problems' with the Bible story are also 'problems' with the scientific one. We're still talking about most of humanity evolving from a very few individuals.

who exactly is saying evolution is rubbish? I've never met or even heard anyone say so. Doubtless you can find some creationists on YouTube, though why you'd want to waste time matching wits with them I don't know.
Meantime, any thoughts on the points I made? That either way, humanity descends from a very small number of people?

"Oh, Ratter, he can change his mind if he likes can't he?"
Many believers would disagree. It brings into question whether there are different states of perfection, or whether God was previously perfect but not after the mind change, or vice versa. The answer is to conclude that any perfect mindful God must be unchanging.

I know what you're getting at jno but, I'm no expert on this, I can't remember who, maybe jomifl and Birdie, have spoken about the various hominids found around the planet. There was believed to be interbreeding between homo sapiens and neanderthals and, perhaps amongst the others also.
Homo sapiens supposedly came to Europe from Africa at least 50,000 years ago which is a hell of a long time to mess about with the different individual characteristics that come though mutations. A hell of a lot longer than 6000 years or thereabouts!
Here's a the wiki link on it all though,
