Both Jews and Muslims lop bits off their young male children, not for medical reasons, but because their religions demand it, so a hypothetical question. If a case were brought before the European Court of Human Rights claiming that this practice is in violation of a human being's right to decide what happens to his body, what do you think the outcome would be?

Do Jehovah's witnesses get Brownie points if they're verbally and/or physically abused?
Sorry, wrong thread
again naomi!

Sith, //what did the rest of it [the Koran] say? We also folow the hadith and sunnah. not just the quran.//

you added in the quran, i did not put it, hadith and sunnah are totally different. stop trying to change my answers. rest of it meant rest of my question.
Sith, this question doesnt seem to be getting through to you does it, it really isnt that difficult! Let me see if I can simplify it a little for you.

The Quran states "Let there be no change in Allah's creation" ok so you have an interest in hadith and sunnah. not just the quran which is a little irrelevant to the question.

The question is: Do you think it is ok to chop bits off of children to alter their appearance, especially as Allah has specifically said that you should not?

Does hadith and sunnah over-rule this as you appear to imply?
Question Author
Sith, I enclosed the words 'the Koran' in square brackets. That indicates to any reader that the words were not in the original sentence, but tells him what the sentence refers to. Therefore I haven't changed your answer.
but i was not reffering to the quran, i was reffering to my question on hadith and sunnah...maybe its just a mistake on both our sides, forget it.
Question Author
Sith, Oh, right. I see. A misunderstanding then.

So where circumcision is concerned, hadith and sunnah override the Koran. I think you'll find that's not supposed to happen, but clearly it does.
you do now that in the quran it states that as muslims we should follow the teachings of prophet muhammed...that is the hadith and sunnah. yes, the quran is more important, its the word of god...however at least we dont have like more than 1 religious books like some religions. that would be confusing.
Sith you are of course correct, one book full of absolute nonsense is far less confusing!!
Question Author
Sith, //yes, the quran is more important, its the word of god//

So why do Muslims disobey it by altering Allah's creation every time they circumcise someone?
oh my god...have you read my answer yet??? hadith and sunnah, god told you to obey that as well, which are the words and actions of muhammed. there are probably plenty more reasons as well, ill list a few:

if you are not circumcised you are more likely to have problems down below, eg, my cousin who is not muslim, hes a christian had to get circumcised at the age of 31, by doctors because he had problems and infections down below so they sorted it out that way. i know this happens to very few people, but it does still happen, so its better to be on the safe side than get infections. also, as i said, it did not hurt me at all. i disagree with the female circumcision, and i have not heard that ever apart from here, and no girls in my family who are muslim or muslims i know have had it done, so it must be a cultural thing in specific countries, but it sure is not religious.
lol Sith, I admire your determination :)
thank you...however im not sure if that was sarcastic or not?
No not sarcastic! its just a shame this dogged persistence is going to waste, you never have and never will convince us of anything but you keep banging away tirelessly. Well done :)
so tell me...what do you think i should do with my "dogged persistence"?
Question Author
Sith, //hadith and sunnah, god told you to obey that as well//

Is that right? Mmmm ..... this presents another dilemma because now we have to ask why all Muslims don't believe it's acceptable to circumcise women.

Oh dearie, dearie me, Sith. Perhaps you should try again when you've learnt rather more about your religion.
Sith, well I think you may have more luck selling sand to the Arabs.
haha...enough with the jokes ratter....female circumcision is a rural practice mostly found in africa in places, the problem with you people here are that you tell me to answer your questions, and explain them, however when i do, you tell me my answers are stupid, from this i am only guessing that you are not interested in most religious views, hence the constant questioning of elderman and goodlife. you want us to explain them mostly for you to question and in simple words make fun off. but i still am not going and am still going too give my views when ever nesseccary.
Nobody is asking you to go Sith but wouldn't it be nice just to join normal threads and have civil normal conversations with people instead of being a constant irritation to people, nobody has a problem with you personally just with all this bo11ocks you keep spilling out.
Question Author
Sith, //female circumcision is a rural practice mostly found in africa//

And it's often justified by interpretation of Islamic literature - as my previous link demonstrates.

//the problem with you people here are that you tell me to answer your questions, and explain them, however when i do, you tell me my answers are stupid,//

I wouldn't say they were stupid - just illogical. Take a look at our latest conversation.

//you want us to explain them mostly for you to question and in simple words make fun off.//

There's nothing funny about religion. Religion mashes minds.
