Many persons know about God. They may live in communities where most citizens claim to believe that he exists. But does this mean that they really know God? Well, there is a difference in knowing about the ruler of the country where one lives and in having a personal acquaintance with him. So, too, with knowing God.

Mark...........No. There is no "get out" clause. If you read your Bible you would see that Jesus was giving a parable (or illustration). See v 11 of same chapter.
Elderman.. The only name calling that I have noticed recently has been done by christians but feel free to give me examples to the contrary, and be a bit nicer to DT, he's a nice chap really.
Elderman, //Jesus did say to one of his disciples that he who uses the sword will perish by the sword //

Is that why he told his followers to sell their cloaks to buy swords? (Luke 22:36). That's no parable. I strongly suspect that Jesus wasn't the man 'believers' think he was, Elderman - and actually, I don't believe you know him at all. You just think you do.

Naomi ......if you say so.
News Flash ..god's best friend agrees with Naomi!
Oh I am not nasty, Elderman - after all I am just unwrapping your so-called statements and fiund the majority of them to be prescribed texts that you do not even have the decency to acknowledge.

Either give that demeaning exercise up and write something original, or acknowledge your sources - and I will then back off researching and exposing your "quotes."

That is simple, surely?
find should have been the verb.....excuse me.

If you think that is nasty then you have yet to experience me in full flood....and tacking inane statements on others threads outside R&S is not going to make you any friends. Glad to see that the Ed has removed a couple already....

jomifl.....Have.t you got any then, poor you
Jom, probably because he can't find anything to copy and paste to refute it at the moment. Or am I just a pessimist? ;o)
He's searching, Naomi, and in the meantime he's resorting to personal snipes. How very Christian!

How much do you really know about God? Are you willing to stake your life on what you know? You are going to have to do so. The nation of Israel was rejected on account of their lack of knowledge, and God feels the same way today about those who reject true knowledge of him. The time is near at hand when “he brings vengeance upon those who do not know God. (2 Thess. 1:8)
Oops! There you go. He's found a bit - even though it doesn't address the issue.

Got to think about 'vengeance' though. That's not very nice, is it. Tut! And him a loving God and all!

I'm going to bed to deliberate on that one.

Night all. x
He has obviously consulted with the Oracle of Delphi to descend again with a range of new diatribes - this one is very close to a bible.cc quoation on Romans. The respite was temporary.
God gave us free will did he not? Therefore it is up to us as individuals to choose whether or not we believe in His existence. It is not for others to inflict upon their fellow men their individual beliefs, far too many lives have been lost over the centuries in trying to force one faith upon others whose beliefs were not the same as theirs. Enough is enough. Let those who believe in God do so and those who do not live as they please without you or anyone else stirring up the pot. Simply leave those of us who live by our own moral codes to do so, if you consider us to be lost souls so be it. As that old poem says "therefore be at peace with God whatever you concieve him to be" and to quote the great Dave Allen Goodnight and may your God go with you

Doesn't really add much, but that seems to be the point of adding quotes to this thread.
