Today all earthly governments are facing destruction even at their own hands by highly developed scientific means of warfare. Well-informed commentators on world affairs are themselves warning all of us of the threatening eventuality.

No, I wouldn't say that.
goodlife - //You only believe what you want to believe.//

Have you got that engraved on a brass plate in large letters on the ceiling above your bed, so it is the first and last thing you see as you start and end each day?

If not, you'd better get on it - before the 'end of the world'.
goodlife - //Is there anything that can be done on an individual as well as on a global scale to fight the misunderstanding, the ignorance, and the fear that beget hate. //

Absolutely!

Stop believing in organised religion!
naomi; //No, I wouldn't say that.//
You are therefore saying that the hatred and violence is in some way inherent in religion itself. So let's take the religions one at a time starting with the teachings of Christ; which parts advocate hatred and violence?
Khandro, I’m not sure where you’re going with this, but I suspect you’re about to go around in circles so in an attempt to introduce a little clarity into the discussion, when you say ‘the hatred and sectarian violence we are witnessing’ I assume you mean that created by Islamic fundamentalists, in which case it is not a result of bad teaching and misinterpretation. Islamic literature justifies their actions.

No, so-called Christianity too is culpable with many despicable acts still being carried out in it's name, please understand what I am saying;
IT IS NOT RELIGION THAT IS THE PROBLEM, IT IS THE PEOPLE WHO WRONGLY INTERPRET IT !
Is Goodlife an actual person? All the posts about GL just parroting proverbs and stuff like that makes me think it is one of those Internet bots that post something connected with key words?

It is so funny on this forum. My guide is the Bible. Such a pity more of you don't understand it. You read it and you say "I know my Bible. Yes, I understand it!" But I am sorry, you don't understand it. From your comments you don't have the slightest idea of what the Bible is all about. You point to all the irrelevant parts.

At the end of the day it is all down to choice - man's governments or God's. There is a big difference in their manifestos. God will keep all his promises which will benefit all mankind and not just the few, unlike man who chops and changes when it suits and only benefits the few.
Khandro, please don't 'shout'. I'm not blind. I do understand what you're saying but like all apologists you're determinedly in denial. As unpalatable as it may be to you, rather than ignore the more unsavoury instructions their books contain, as the more peaceable among the faithful do, the fanatics don’t ignore them and they don't misinterpret them - they obey them to the letter. They are 'extremists'.

Cassa, that's been suggested before. He tells me he's Chinese - but I suspect he's an android. ;o)
Morning Goodlife, lovely day.

//you don't have the slightest idea of what the Bible is all about. You point to all the irrelevant parts. //

That's interesting. Which parts of the bible do you think are irrelevant - and how do you decide which bits are irrelevant and which bits are not?
naomi; Fanatics come in all shapes and sizes (and genders!). Some fanatically believe in something and are not very unlike those who fanatically disbelieve in something.
As Buddhism teaches; 'the middle way', - that's the thing! :0)
Khandro, there you go - sidestepping the issue and around in circles.
its a mans world my a**e , woman rule the world, didnt you know that ?
dieseldick, have you posted that in the wrong thread?
Goodlife. Explain the logic of this..

locusts, //FOR ME .WHEN MY WIFE WAS DYING .. (BLOOD TRANSFUSION WAS REQUESTED) AND THE DOCTOR WAS ASK WILL IT SAVE HER LIFE . HE ANSWER NO . SO WAS A BLOOD TRANSFUSION LIFE SAVING ???//

Sadly not for your wife - but for millions upon millions of people it is a life saver.
Like me there are many people who believe in the Bible and study it and believe it
In the Genesis. Noah Was given the responsibility to save life by preaching and building the ark
for this was the warning to the people of is time .. in a warning of our time. Tim. 3 15 but knows this to attend the last day is critical times hard to deal with will be here.. Luke 2 18-11 Another warning show that the creator is preparing for the great day and the abyss(chain) for Satan and his angels for a thousand years so this will let man and woman to live in free life in a paradise commendation and on interference from Satan.
Matthew24.36-39 will show the people of today that many people will not take into account what Jesus prophesied Daniel 2. 44,, he says .
also a warning for the government's and the people who live in it..
It seems like we have turned full circle from the days of Noah to know.. The world is so violent,s(violence) and the creator of the world did a way with the people of Noah's day for their violence..
locusts, has it not occurred to you that if you believe the story of Noah it follows that the god you think is omniscient isn't. That god regretted creating man - he admitted he'd made a mistake - so how can he possibly be omniscient? With the Noah story you have clear evidence that he's not, so why believe a word you think he's said about the future when you know he is not infallible. It makes no sense.

Naomi Using discernment, you will be able to recognize those who are merely using smooth talk and complimentary speech in order to “seduce the hearts of guileless ones. (Romans 16:18)

Discernment enables you to discard irrelevant information or misleading facts and distinguish the substance of a matter. But how can you discern when something is misleading?

Well if you realize that what everybody thinks is not necessarily correct, you can find to think differently. While it may seem that all others think the same way, does this mean that you should? Popular opinion is not a reliable barometer of truth.

Over the centuries all kinds of ideas have been popularly accepted, only to be proved wrong later. Yet, the inclination to go along with the crowd persists. The command given at Exodus 23:2 serves as a good principle: You must not follow after the crowd for evil ends.
So god, who abhorred violence in the people he created drowned them to teach them not to be violent, nice one.
