Since Naomi will not give me the ****ing key I have decided to follow Jesus and be a Christian just like Theland. I am ashamed of my past history here so I'm going to devote the time I used to spend on ab to reading the Bible. No question really because I no longer care about what people think. I'll get all my answers from God from now on thank you.

Do you really think he is just because he doesn't say his name (I don't say mine either as it goes) or much about himself? He gives enough stuff away with how he speaks and perhaps he's more of a read between the lines kinda guy.
I don't think of Mibs as an enigma, interesting yes and I do tease him for being an international man of mystery at times but not an enigma. Perhaps that's because I've had certain other advantages in this instance but however, an enigma to me is someone who wonders in and out our daily basis and who we have very little idea of, (the count for example actually but I can imagine that calling Mibs count could lead to extreme typo errors on drunken fingers). Mibs isn't like that at all, we know quite a lot about him from what he says on here and that's the important stuff. The stuff about who he is, where he's from, what he does... that's how too many people define themselves rather than what they think and what's inside.

Consider for example the polar opposites which can be the contributions on here made by Mibs and I... (Disregarding the occasional times I'm sensible on here). From what I've written you all know that I have a sister who I tease mercilessly for being a bleached blonde while I myself am a brunette, I work in admin, I like to write, I read a lot, I smoke, I like hot chocolate , I'm an insomniac, I've a degree in english (suprisingly at times), I'm getting a tattoo and I've got something of a sharp tongue when I want to. How banal is that in comparrison to the rather long winded (in the nicest possible way) insights we get in to how Mibs thinks? You know more about me than you about Mibs but I would put it to you that you know Mibs on a far more intimate level since he writes about what's in his head on here way more than I ever will. (More because there's never that much in my head... well, sometimes a blue bottle or two gets in there...) And because of this, Mibs can't be an enigma, (sorry darling, you're still lovely though!)
My Tattoo.
It's happening people... So either give me pretty pictures (I actually really like the peacock, cheers for that!) as suggestions so that I don'e get love and hate stamped on both knuckles or quit your grumbling and wish me luck.
If you moan much more I'll get my tongue pierced too just to spite you... ;0P

Finally....
The ivory tower, how it impacts on our everyday lives and are there many people of reason in this world.
Technically reading a bit of Aristotle, understanding Plato and Socrates and having a vast knowledge of physics as well as being well read is going to do diddley squat for you in the every day world unless you're job is linked to it or you've got a professor setting the questions at the local pub quiz. That's my stance on it.
However.... knowing yourself is an entirely different matter and how we do that is subjective. Perhaps for Mibs it involved discovering there was more to the world than he was allowed to know as a child (more between line reading), finding out that you have had things witheld from you (for whatever reason) is shocking and frankly disgusting. In Mib's quest to learn more, he also discovered that he could be more. More what I have no idea but the act of him discovering this is probably the start of the Mibs we know and love today. For me, I learn more about myself from what I read, I either relate to characters, their plights effect me or I read some of the old greats I've previously mentioned and it makes me ask questions. My mother teases me because of the big brain I have and pride myself on but she couldn't be further from the truth. I don't consider myself particularly bright, well read possibly but not academically clever. And I'm only well read because I it's a way of learning more about the person who I see in the mirror each day as she's a bigger mystery to me than thermodynamics.

Knowing yourself is the main thing though. Knowledge of ourself, our capabilities, what we will or will not accept, what we will or will not do (and believe me, you never know that for sure) is key to how we live our lives on a daily basis and it's key to our expectations. The 16 year old who lives on a council estate and is pregnant and whose mother raises her arms in despair because she's going the same path she already did is in despair because the kid is acting out what she knows and what her life taught her. Raising her expectations might have helped, whether this was by the ivory tower route or the showing them another way I don't know but effectively that kid ended up the way she did because she didn't know or value herself enough to learn that she was more than her horizons dictated. (Obviously this is a generalisation and individuals are more subjective than this).
I think knowlege of ourselvese, what we are and what we want to be.... Well that's the stuff that makes up who we are and what we give back to this world. However you go about that is up to you but it's very important.
But on another note, I am whatever you say I am. Now that's always been a stinker of a statement to me. Mainly because I often find it true.

A good read there China, and very informative, and yes, the jewel turned to allow the light to reflect on yet another facet of the incredible you.
Don't you just love taliking in metaphors? It's so bloody colourful, and the more outrageous the metaphor the better!
So you have lit another torch to illuminate these drab tunnels where we eke out our existence, walking in circles around the toilet seat of time, until we finally experience the ultimate flush.
All the knowledge in the world would not help me to address the problems that come my way, as they are largely family orientated, and unlike Pilate, I cannot wash my hands, as I just happen to love most dearly the players in this ongoing Greek Tragedy that is my life.
"Go on! Sort your own problems out! I've got a life of my own to live!"
No, such an attitude is unthinkable, and impossible, and so my day to day plans are dictated by circumstances not of my own making quite often.

But just now and again, I take a breather, and try to relax, and if that is in company, then it is to some small talk that I am attracted, to release the tension in the shoulder muscles and relax the ubiquitous frown.
So, names and occupations are exchanged, age, likes and dislikes, married or no, kids? How many? Swap notes and laugh about the similarities that we all experience. So it is strange to come across you Mibs, who as China says, or infers, reveal yourself in stages from the inside out!
Your deepest thoughts and beliefs are displayed with as great a lack of self consciousness as a tart displaying her stocking tops and knickers, and yet you keep a closely guarded secret even your preference for either black or brown shoes. Really intriguing.

Trivia! That's the word. That is what is lacking. The intellect is there, the humour is there, but there is no trivia, and that is as important a part of reality and therefore of great value in reaching a mutually beneficient understanding between individuals whose capacity to reason is in need of more than simple assumptions in order to learn more about each other and therefore evaluate the legitimacy and worth of not only the views and opinions being presented, but also the tone and colour of such opinions.
If our presentations to each other are analogous to music, then we can use the full range of instruments in the orchestra to present our compositions with as much accuracy, interest and warmth as we can muster, but how can we do that if we refuse to employ the whole of the strings section, but try to compensate for such lack with a few more beats of the kettle drum?
..... or something like that ......

I make no apology for tha blatant plagiarism in the posts above.
....... and another thing, it must be Mibs, or a close relative of his, who designs and sets out the volumes of claims forms I have come across recently for incapacity benefit and job seekers allowance.
They would never win one of those awards for the plain English campaign.
Why use one word when twelve will suffice?

China, right, one thing at a time:
It was thought that the sun was the reason there was life on this planet which has been proved wrong .........
I can't find any reference to this. Where did you get it?
Enigmatic Mibs: I'll agree that we should define people by what's on the inside, but it's human nature to be curious and to want to get to know other human beings, isn't it? If you've had 'certain other advantages in this instance', then you're one up on Theland and me, and perhaps that's why Mibs isn't such an enigma to you. I don't tell you my name either, and although I tell you little bits about myself, the chances are that your assessment of me as a person, and my personal life, gleaned purely reading between the lines would probably fall short of the mark.
... I would put it to you that you know Mibs on a far more intimate level since he writes about what's in his head on here way more than I ever will.
I would disagree with that. We know Mibs' aims and aspirations insofar as his intellectual relationships with other people are concerned, but we know nothing of his everyday life, or his hopes and fears, so in actual fact we know practically nothing about him as a person. You on the other hand, we know quite a lot about, and can therefore form some sort of a picture in our minds.
Your tattoo: If you really must, then flowers, a single butterfly, or stars. I know someone who has a curved line of stars tattooed on her ankle - that's quite pretty.

Reading: If you want to do something you find the time to. True.
The ivory tower: Perhaps ....... In Mib's quest to learn more, he also discovered that he could be more. That could well be true. I think we're all capable of realising our dreams to an extent, but unless we try, then how do we know?
Knowing yourself is the main thing though. Knowledge of ourself, our capabilities, what we will or will not accept, what we will or will not do ....... is key to how we live our lives on a daily basis and it's key to our expectations. Yes, it is.
But on another note, I am whatever you say I am. Now that's always been a stinker of a statement to me. Mainly because I often find it true. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's the biggest mistake to assume that someone else's assessment of you is correct. If you tell someone he's a loser, and he believes it, then he will be a loser. But this all comes back to knowing yourself, and from having the confidence to be yourself, despite what other people might say or think.

Theland, "Go on! Sort your own problems out! I've got a life of my own to live!" No, such an attitude is unthinkable, and impossible, and so my day to day plans are dictated by circumstances not of my own making quite often.
Everyone's day-to-day plans are dictated by circumstances, and often those circumstances are not of their own making, but there is a line to be drawn between helping your family when they really need help, and allowing them, indeed obliging them, to take responsibility for themselves. If you're always there to prop them up they will never learn to fend for themselves. They have an easy option - you. Sooner or later, you will die, and then what will they do? Are you really doing them any favours by allowing them to depend upon you so heavily? I don't think so. You'd be doing them a much greater favour by teaching them that they are now adults, and as such they have to be self-sufficient and sort their own problems out.
Mibs again: Trivia! That's the word. That is what is lacking. That sums it up very nicely.

Ditto! I've known Mibs longer maybe, that's all. I don't really know him any better than you. (Plus he's still sulking over something to do with Enya anyway...)
I think we're all capable of realising our dreams to an extent, but unless we try, then how do we know?
I generally think we know because we feel unsettled like there's more out there or something. I know I do anyway.
But on another note, I am whatever you say I am. Now that's always been a stinker of a statement to me. Mainly because I often find it true.
Not really. Have you ever noticed how names suit people for a start? How can a name suit someone? It's a word. Also, I'm pretty sure I don't see myself how my friends, family, boyfriends (in the past) or even you guys see me but who's to say who's right or wrong. There is a lot more to this statement than meets the eye.
What's on everyones mugs? Mine says 'everyday I am forced to add more names to the list of people that p!ss me off'
