okay religious people, can you explain to me why your God lets such bad things happen, please? I am bemused.
apart from what we hear/see on the news, I had a terrible childhood, I've grown up and seen such bad things happen to good people (and vice versa), and this week my daughter's 16 year old friend died in a dreadful accident.
I'm not after sympathy.. you've probably all been through something similar.
but why does your God allow such things to happen?

Then world should be looked at as whole and not with reference to individual incidents and only then would you realise that majority of the people are happy, have good childhood and live longer. However if someone does suffer due to another human being's actions then do not forget that God did not tell him to do so. In fact in all major religions God forbids abusing power or control given to someone. And the person involved may escape punishment in this world but will not do in the hereafter and that is another reason I believe that there is God.

Sorry, sara Jonnyboy may have the answer to what? The meaning of life, perhaps? I was once told that the chances of the Universe creating itself without a creator were the same as a tornado over a scrapyard creating a Jumbo Jet. Totally non-existent. If a house needs a builder, and a painting needs a painter to paint it, then surely the larger and more complex universe needs a creator.

People who believe think He is still around to be prayed to ,and not just 'there you go then Man,get on with it,your'e on your own now.So how come kp90 He allows tsunamis and floods and earthquakes to kill babies, and allows 1 in 8 women in the third world to die in childbirth, and allows people to die in pain with slow, natural deaths from diseases..need I say more? You are right sara, only there's a lot worse things that happen that have not happened just coz there are bad people around who will be judged on judgement day.
well... what do you want exactly, a God who lets everyone live until they're 200?
What happens seems to be that our genes keep us fit and healthy until we're 40 or so - that is, until we've had time to reproduce those genes and raise children - and then our bodies start to run down. You could say that this is all our genes are interested in: reproducing themselves. You could also say that's God's plan for the species. Having almost wiped the species out in Noah's flood, and regretted it, he's decided to concentrating on encouraging its survival, rather than on ensuring every individual is happy.

Hi sara,
Often think the same way as you, my lovely.
I'm so sorry to hear about your childhood and the news of your daughters friend passing away in a terrible accident. Please accept my sincere condolences.
We have to go through life's ups and downs and get what is thrown at us, so we seem to be on our own in that respect, whatever we try and do to stop and make the problem better.
It does make you doubt your faith at times and think why is life like that when you get bad news and events happening that affect you badly.
We all, as you say, have to go through the real downers and upset of events that happen to us and only last week i attended a funeral of a well respected friend and DJ, who was well known down here in the South of England, for many years.......run the marathons including the London one....did the bike race too...no trace of any illness....finished his Breakfast Radio show he did from 6-10am...and then shortly after, as he was out shopping collapsed and died suddenly.........why???.........he leaves behind his wife and two lovely children, who he loved so much.
Just think of the great things you do have in your life, Sara, such as your lovely daughter....and your health too.
Stay positive, sweetheart......love bear xxx
