Just finished watching This Happy Breed Jno. It's a lovely film.Good snapshot of ordinary life between the wars. It was so sharp you could even see the stitching on the gold braid on the pall over the King's coffin when the camera was close up.I love this sort of film. The interiors, props and the furniture, clothes, hairstyles etc.
the Gerbil from the East hasn't achieved much round here. Yes, it's been snowing for hours, but not a single flake has measured more than one nanomicron, and not one has settled anywhere. It's 2 degrees out there and the realfeel is 2 degrees, so that's okay.
Which is good as I have to get OH miles along the North Circular to hospital for a blood test at the crack of dawn and I'd just as soon it wasn't snowed under.
Afternoon all
Really beastly easterly here. The wind roared all night but it's dropped a bit now.Blizzard conditions earlier and a covering of snow.It says 0C on the thermometer though real feel is minus 12 according to Accu but I'm not going outside to check.
Keep warm and safe.
It's so boring here.... just pottering and watching tv. Mr N made a lovely s/s port and chicken with almonds and mushrooms and egg fried rice. Was delicious. Heres now taken hija to Ibiza so she can be with her friends slightly illegal but we are climbing the walls. They will stay in the flat and watch tv but at least shes with people her own age.
botheration, it's started snowing more heavily , long after the forecasts all said it would stop. I've dug out an old windscreen protector but it's the wrong shape for these new sloping car windscreens so it'll only cover half of it.
Also waves to Robi x
Hope all went ok jno especially the drive!
Had a lovely morning as they were both out so I hoovered and washed and laundered and polished and all manner of housework. 4 loads of washing and a boil washed mattress cover. The sun went in and the wind got up which helped drive most of it and then it rained so the drier did its bit. Lovely feeling.
Hope you are all alright!
safely there and back. Snowing quite heavily now, but we're not going anywhere for a few days. Waitrose are sending a St Bernard around with a crate of groceries this evening.
Glad to hear it. its bitter cold here. We've had tiny bits of snow, barely a teaspoonful. When we were kids, my dad used to say "Its too cold to snow" I am not sure of the meteorological truth of it but that's what it feels like.
Plenty of snow here Woofy . I'll send you a couple of bucketfuls:)
My dad used to say that as well.
Glad you got there and back safely Jno. It's very treacherous out there.Make sure the St Bernard has some brandy in his barrel.
Picky went to work this morning and they all got sent home.
I've spent the day on the sofa feeling a bit grotty and have just come to. I've got sinus pain and sore eyes or it could be neuralgia in my head ,not sure.I've dosed myself up anyway.
Sleep tight all. Keep warm and safe.
the lawn was covered with snow a couple of nights ago. Since then it's been snowing steadily and quite heavily, the temperature is zero - and yet the snow on the lawn has been melting the whole time. I wish I had a degree in meteorology.
Hello all. Shaney hope you are feeling better. I felt slightly unwell on Saturday but fine ever since.
Jno maybe you have a hot tap leaking under your lawn?? Or loads of moles keeping it warm?
Sunny but very windy today. I am getting used to this staying at home now !
Afternoon all
Been snowing here again but brightening up now.
I feel better than I did Neti, thank you.I always get sinus and cattarh problems in the winter little or much.
Had text from the surgery today to book a vaccination but of course the lines are engaged so I'll try again tomorrow.
Silly question but can you choose which arm they put it in?
My right arm is always painful from the shoulder down to my hand.I think it's from a pinched nerve in my neck or something so I would rather be jabbed in my left arm.
Nothing doing otherwise.Hope you're all ok.
