when I was younger sprog was probably one of the most common names used by my friends for their kids, my friends in Ireland usually refer to their kids as cubs
Sprog isn’t a word I’d choose to describe any baby but words alone are never really an issue in my opinion. Frankly I think objecting to certain words per se all gets a bit snowflaky and daft. However, words do count when they’re used, in context and tone, to denigrate. Had diddly said, ‘How lovely. A new little sprog’, the chances are no one would have turned a hair - but she didn’t. She used the word to emphasise her vitriol towards the Prime Minister - and that’s just plain nasty.
