Watched a bit of today's show, and had to ask myself who thought Anne Robinson was a good idea to present a gentle afternoon television contest about words and numbers. It needs someone friendly, personable and quick-witted - AR is none of those.
My new HD television was very unkind to her ill-fitting teeth and the cellulite on her bare arms; does she not watch the recordings back? She came over as totally uninterested.
I am watching ‘Countdown’ at the moment and seeing Anne as host for the first time. I am not at all keen on her style or presentation and, like tamaris, I detect something wrong with her teeth. She is having some difficulty in getting her words out. I was a Nick Hewer fan too.
I have said before, but it bears repeating - is no-one on this show going to admit that Ann Robinson is disastrous casting for this programme?
And for heaven's sake, is someone going to have a word with her about getting her teeth fixed, she looks like the dummy and sounds like the ventriloquist combined!
I don't care what any tv presenter looks like so long as they are clean and tidy but Anne is a square peg in a round hole. We record the show and watch it after our evening meal - we are fast forwarding to the actual game and cutting all the chaff out.
Quite "funny" on Friday's show. Robinson has obviously been told not to be horrible to the contestants, so she was having a go at the guest, Grace Dent, who realised Robinson's game. All I can say is that Robinson is better than I thought she would be, but not much, and the producers have made a mistake bringing her in as host. Channel 4 isn't trying to get rid of Countdown, are they?
