I don't know why celebrities are awarded honours at all, unless they've done something outstanding for the community, or for the world. Hardly Sir Lancelot, are they?
I would like to have seen film composers John Barry and John Williams get a knighthood and honorary knighthood respectively, for services to the British music industry. John Williams has often used British orchestras for such films as Star Wars,Saving Private Ryan,Harry Potter etc.

I agree with Parky getting a knighthood. He has often been criticised for giving celebrities an easy time. So what? Why do we have to get to the "nitty gritty" or dish the dirt all the time? Not everyone likes confrontation. His show was light entertainment at its best. A lot of the stars he interviewed would not have come on his show if they thought he would give them a hard time. And why would they? I hate jazz so I have to agree with the comment about Jamie Cullen. I cant stand Sammy Davis Junior either.
PS I dont understand why Brucie hasn't got anything. If Cliff Richard deserves to be a Sir, then surely Brucie does!
Whats with the Parky thing? i dont understand it - he has no personality to speak of, his questions are inane. Thank god he's retiring, give someone else a chance, good ridance.
I once wrote to George Alagiah saying I found it extremely irritating the way he swings from one camera to another at the start of the news, but makes it look so obvious, and never manages to get the timing right always staring at the new camera before the old one has finished filming him.
I got a personally signed reply saying they were always open to suggestions but they were months before they changed the so obviously stage managed 'routine'.
