The God promoted by believers cannot be reconciled with the God of the Bible. He made mistakes, he was unjust, and he was neither omniscient nor omnipresent. Nevertheless, despite glaring evidence to the contrary, members of his fan club tell us he was perfect. How do they justify that?

God was on both sides. Nothing He like better than a good stoush with lots of death. (Though He is very partial to the smell of burning flesh.)
God everyone wants to battle as though they are doing His work. Of course they are doing His work. God's solution to everything is to kill someone and make them suffer terribly.
We should not be surprised that while people continue to include ancient Arab war gods in their solutions to conflict we will continue to live on a violent planet.
