Is there really no other thread? I thought this was a wonderful puzzle. Not quite as fiendish as I expected given the setter, but still a really tough challenge. The theme was familiar enough,... ...
I may have missed an existing thread. Apologies if I have but the search yields nothing. I thought this was a gentle solve; the clues were fairly straightforward, all being 'normal'. I liked the... ...
A carte blanche requiring a high percentage of cold solving, as there were many unclued entries. Clues were very good, as always from this setter, and the puzzle came together with the theme, but... ...
An interesting puzzle. Some of the adjusted theme words were, perhaps, slightly contrived. On the whole, I thought it was very entertaining. Many thanks, Vagans.
I thought the clues were set at the ideal level of difficulty -- difficult but not so fiendish as to lose the all-important enjoyment factor. The endgame is curious; no problem with the final bits... ...
Another brilliant puzzle. Super neat in construction and a lovely endgame. Fortunately the clues were not too difficult -- just as well as, had the corrections been more fiendishly disguised, it... ...
Well, after last week's offering any puzzle will seem easy. A neat idea well implemented. Pretty much impossible to get to the 12 special entries until the quotation had been obtained. Some of one... ...
Tough in the extreme, but very rewarding if that's how you like your puzzles. The combination of altered clues, altered entries, carte blanche grid and truly evil clues throughout made this the... ...
Another setter new to the Listener? We always like to see new gimmicks being used in the clues and we got that here alright, but perhaps like the plot of the film, I found it all very complicated.... ...
An outstanding puzzle. Good job there is snow on the ground and temperature has not risen above freezing for 2 days so an excuse if it was needed to devote last evening and most of today to... ...
Third puzzle in a row with the name of a film with die in it as the puzzle title. Can the editors keep the sequence going? This was an easier puzzle than of late with some rather obvious clues but... ...
A very enjoyable puzzle to crack - many thanks, Quinapalus. So many original features in this one. The double/partial wordplay was an interesting idea. The only criticism I have is the huge scope... ...
Not the first outing for this theme in the Listener, but not for some time. Plenty of thematic material, some cleverly worked clues, not all the misprints jumping out. A good challenge. Thanks, JFD
