Allergy sticky ears in dog
Hi there. My two year old Weimaraner GSP cross boy has being diagnosed will allergy problems. The main symptom is inflamed ears which then become dirty and sticky. We are working with the vet who is excellent but the steroid tablets which helped at first have stopped being effective at a dose which is acceptable in terms of side effects for the dog. The next stage is to try a topical steroid spray which we will start on monday. We have cleaned up his diet which has helped a lot but not solved the problem. We have also tried
Canaural drops (the thick yellow ones)
Thornit powder
We currently use ear cleaning solution made from boracic and lactic acid to clean his ears (at vets suggestion) plus the steroid tabs and evening primrose oil capsules, again at vet's suggestion.
has anyone else had experience of this and can you make any suggestions please?
He has bare, not hairy ear canals and is as good as gold about the twice daily cleaning and treatment.
thanks

Thanks shaney, I think I have seen that make here, will have a bash:
Ignores Lottie, always spending that one is!
Am very tired today, must be all the carousing I've done this week, can't wait to fall into bed. Was there a Midsomer recently, I've only see The Dark rider weeks ago!
I like Benidorm, well I did the first series as it was so life like with the tourists over here, got a bit silly though!

This is the first chance I've had to get on here. I have put every single thing back in it's place in my lounge which is now finished, and I'm so pleased with it.
I'm now going to bed. I will have a longer chat tomorrow and tell you about Nottingham yesterday.
Oight Oight Biddyfriends. Sleep tight. I certanly will. X
P.S. I've started sneezing today Lottie and am feeling a bit bunged up.

Morning all...it was sunny and now t'aint
I don't want any viruses, I'm having enough bovva one way or another, slept like a real baby last night...ie hardly at all....stomach griping, feet felt like they were in an ironing press and tinnitus in full volume surround sound :o(. At one point it was like one of those radio competitions where they scramble a dozen tunes together but without the melody...I did try to break it down & I came up with the London undergound, Niagara, mosquitos, dripping taps and rain down a drainpipe. I think I'm replaying all the noises I ever heard. I'm really looking forward to tonight, I think it's nails on blackboards and pneumatic drills.
Have a lovely time tonight shaney, you deserve a good night out...oh, she can't hear me, she's tuning up for the karaoke...

Good morning all, sorry to hear about your bad night Robi. Not said to wind you up but I have actually set the clocks going again to make the house less quiet at night and find that helps me to sleep better but I am probably weird.
Has anybody got any advice about hair falling out? Mine has always been a bit thin (hereditary) bit its getting thinner. Its either hormones or stress or both and will right itself or not but I'd like to give it a bit of help if I can. Am taking multivits, looked at the treatment shampoos but can only find ads, not honesty.
