Chicken hurt in film Papillon
101 Answers
Watched this film on DVD and I am sure a chicken is badly injured when a soldier falls on it.
What do you think ?
I thought this type of thing was not allowed in film making.

Some people would obviously laugh at it on a television programme, but not me! So I'm a bit cranky but I am happy that way.

I do have to admit that I didn't watch the clip in question as it would have upset me and also I didn't realise the film was 35 years old. Not being a great film fan, I thought perhaps Doc_Spock was talking about a remake.
I won't watch the film clip, but I am sure this sort of thing would be less likely to happen nowadays, although accidents can happen to chickens as well as humans!
Still don't like the joking though!

One of the worse things I experienced was driving behind a lorry loaded with chicken crates of live chickens from a factory farm. The tailgate of the lorry had fallen open and the chicken crates were falling off all over the road and the chickens (who couldn't walk or fly) were being scattered far and wide with traffic trying to avoid them. The lorry driver was unaware and taking no notice of me sounding the horn continuously and flashing my headlights.
The worse thing was having two children in the car who were absolutely mortified at the spectacle. I eventually had to turn off that road about two miles further on but the lorry driver carried on, distributing his load.
The evidence of this was on the road and verges for weeks.

The film is old but I won't be watching the clip and yes, conditions re filming have improved.
However, the original question sparked off a huge debate that could go on and on.
I know who I agree with on all counts.
I and many people have a great respect for life, whatever the species, and the jokes were not appreciated.

ok this should not have been allowed to happen there is an animal law against this kind of thing you can report it to the RSPCA but there are onormally animal inspecters on scene to check that now animals are harmed during the making of ANY FILM!!! but the chicken may not be injured it may just be in shock!!!
