BiddyGrotto
What do all the biddies/grumps want to find in their wrinkly stockings this year then? Do you like all this festivity or will you be the grumpy gran/grandpa from hell this year?
Please feel free to take a present out of the bran tub as you leave by the way. Contents may be unidentifiable....oops sorry...be varied.

You are quite right ..if we start a new thread we will get probably get moaned at..We will have to get a couple of tin cans and a very long piece of string.
Glad to hear your friend is holding her own Gessoo and I hope Hannah will soon be up and bouncing around again Woofgang. It just goes to show how fond we are of our animals when we are prepared to sleep on the floor with them.I have often spent a night on the sofa with a sick dog.
Anyway it's dull, damp and dismal here too Robinia.... I always feel better somewhere warm and dry.
Vinny ..put those sprouts away !There is enough hot air in the News section !!
Have a good day everyone xx
Have just written a long post and it's disappeared!
Question for gessoo. Love your piccy all cosy. We also have a log fire (a jotul) and for 16yrs it's been chucking out the old hear when we have been burning old furniture and doors. This winter we had the chinmey cleaned and bought a load of pine and olive and now there's not heat at all. M N has put a fan at the fan of the stove to throw the heat into the room. Have you any idea what is wrong.
What a bummer, we are going to be evicted at out age, I'm sure there's a law against it.
Cannot some bright spark set up our own web page or whatever.
Neti
How dry is the wood you are now burning? To burn well and give out heat wood really needs to have been cut down for at least a year, but the longer the better. This is why you were getting such a lot of heat from old furniture, etc. Pine is not the best wood for burning though, especially if its still green (green = not dried out) We have had our woodburner since 1979 and don't use it very much these days as we have central heating and the woodburner sends out so much heat we have to leave the room. I do love proper fires though.
Yes we need our own site, but it would have to be very strictly moderated and entry would have to be by filling in an Application Form, having a strict formal interview, a medical (ha, ha) and taking up at least six references!!! jno would have to be the chief moderator as he/she is so very wise. It could be called 'Robiddies' in honour of the founder member of this thread!!!
oh that seems to be a really good idea to me neti - shall we put it to the vote???
we could put a link in here to there....once we're all settled in we'll get Laurence Llewellyn - Bowen (sp?) to make it all cosy for us. If we get Pickle to do it we'll be paying the bills until we're 90 with his expensive taste.
You leave my chair alone Neti. I have had the heated back switched on all morning, but my son now tells me he needs the computer, so have to go.
I am working this evening. Easing myself in gradually - have totally forgotten what I do for a living, with have to spend an hour or so gearing myself up!!!!
right are we all agreed?? - I was really sad & worried at first but now it's quite exciting....it's like being the geriatric Secret Seven. I say netibiza old girl this was a spiffing idea!!
We'll have a party to celebrate when we move, Pickle can do the catering....should be by the weekend if we're lucky. Anyway, it'll take us a week to pack all this lot up & get rid of Vinny's empty tinnies...I'll take the cutains down & give them a wash - hope they fit the new place....can someone start clearing the scullery cupboards please?...the mice are going to well miffed, better leave them a couple of bran muffins, we don't want 'em following us.
