Tips For When In Hospital
125 Answers
I may be looking at a prolonged period in hospital.
I've only been in hospital twice once as a child and again for a two night stay 20 odd years ago.
I'm looking for tips for how to make the stay as comfortable as possible.
My biggest concern is do hospitals have free wi-fi????

I always take my tablet in with me with loads of films, books and daft games such as Connect 4. I also take in something to "do" with my hands such as crochet or knitting. Last time I was in I took an exercise book and plotted the outline for a book.
Ear plugs are another essential. There is nothing more annoying than being kept awake by a snorer.
I also take in a small travel mirror and a travel hairdrier.
I would agree with Gness - don;t let anyone touch you unless you have seen them wash their hands.
Do NOT be afraid to query things with the staff. I have an allergy to one painkiller and if it is administered I go into full blown anaphylactic shock. Despite having a red allergy band clearly visible on my wrist and warnings plastered all over my notes, I can think of at least 3 occasions this year when staff tried to administer this drug. Be alert.
Good luck

No free wifi in fact very little chance of any internet connection at all.
You need to get a dongle and hope there is enough signal to get a connection.
But then again I do not think hospitals allow patients to bring computers into the building , you can't even have a mobile phone let alone a computer.
