Can someone tell me the official name of this type of bolt please, I'm sure it must have one.
here
Where have all the old fashioned hardware stores gone?...the nice man in a brown overall & a pencil behind his ear would know what I meant by 'twisty, bolty thingy' (even if it hadn't been invented).

Y'all are moving here...?! How... how nice! If only I'd known about it sooner...!

...he he... Seriously though that would be great fun! Robinia do you remember when you dreamed you went to Stockholm and we had lunch in a hotel restaurant made of glass and a dessert that looked like... eh... small worms or something. Somebody else I spoke to on the internet also dreamed he came to Stockholm, he met me and I was extremely tall...! ...and then he travelled around Sweden on a monorail. When I wrote back I told him about your dream (no names or anything of course) and asked him if he wanted me to arrange for that dessert to be served in the monorail restaurant car, ha ha ha. Shaney I believe that magazine comes in an English version for German news too, have a look-see.

jno didn't you have a persistent cough a couple of years ago? Only, 'cos I seem to remember posting a nursery rhyme about coughing at the doctor's, as some kind of comfort? You recovered from that one, keep that in mind. I'll see if I can find the rhyme again, hang on...
Okay, it says "Answer Was Added", it says there are 160 replies to this thread, I signed out and signed in again... but the reply I just posted IS NOT HERE. I KNOW the moment I re-submit it will materialise...! And yet, if I don't, it won't... so... here's what I wrote:

sigh...
Here it is again, sir! It's by Robert Graves.

I Have A Little Cough

I have a little cough, sir,
In my little chest sir,
Every time I cough, sir,
It leaves a little pain, sir,
Cough, cough, cough, cough,
There it is again, sir.
Just typed a long epistle and found I wasn't signed in so lost it.

No internet at home as storms have blown modem so Mr N will try to get one tomoorow as they arte all sold out in this village!!

My darling cat Mousey has a virus and will recover. After 2 injections at vets she bucked up no end and started eating, drinking and peeing, it was such a relief to find a trustworthy vet, who is not in it for the money!! Only trouble is I have to drive halfway to Ibiza and then double back on myself to get to the little village so takes a while, if only there was a cut through road it woiuld only be 10 mins.

Still having incredible storms and the whole country is flooded, pool overflowed so we are emptying it out now for the winter, although at this rate it'll be full again in a day!!!

OK sweeties, will try to pop in again when next near a cyber cafe unless Mr N gets the new wifi router pdq.
Yay Mousey! :-D
Hi All. Really pleased Mousey is recovering Neti. And Jno hope the cough is getting better. I know waiting for results is a pain. Robi sorry you're not feeling too good. Take care and get better soon. Have I missed anybody. I hope not but if I have get well soon. I have been to the Dietician (have I spelt that right) and I have to go on a diet and exercise regime. I have to do without all the sweet things I love and also have to loose weight. God knows what I will look like when I do cos I know I'm 11 stone but I am 5 ft. 6.1/2"tall and when I lose weight |I will be like a string bean Ugh!!! They want me to lose about 1.l/2 stone.
Never mind I have to do it to keep fit.
It's been a lovely day today but it is cooling off a bit now which is only to be expected for Sept.
Take care all off to have my fresh fruit and natural Yoghurt now!!
See yer later 'gater(s) x
incidentally, sorry if everyone knows this already and doesn't care, but Prescriptives are being withdrawn from the market and cosmetics-lovers of my acquaintance are rushing out to stock up. Not me, of course, I like a nice sheen on my scales.
Was just passing a cyber cafe so thought I'd pop in. Mousey has been signed off from the vets as she is in full health now, and didn't 'alf kick and bite the vet, who, I thought was extremely kind!

No wifi routers to be had on the island at the mo, seems the storms have knocked ouot most of the older modems, we are rushing hither and thither to find one.

Finally we have a lovely day although is very sweti, will head homewards now are do some washing.

Hopefully I'll be online again soon, am so missing all the soaps and xfactor and strictly quickley hides from Robi. catch yer laters x
Hi folks ,glad to be back .Shame about your pussy (as Vinny would say!) neti but pleased he's recovered safely. Why does it take four weeks to get your x-rays bacj jno and jude ? we get ours on the same day ,one can sit and wait an hour for them or go off and meander round the shops and then come back for them . Mr.D. has to go for xrays on his chest in about three weeks again see if any improvement.
The weather is beautiful ( not too hot) apart from last weeks Dust Storms which were dreadful .I love September ,bought a heap of geraniums but seriously don't khow where to plant them -my garden like a miniature jungle everything overgrown.
Anyone had the Swine flu injection yet ? it's now available for everyone here so as we're in a risk group ( old age and bad chests) we'll be having it .
Your street party sounds great jude -those were the days eh. Well time for bed ,pictures tomorrow morning ,meeting up with old friends etc. Bye Dolly xxx
Hi all, quick pop in today as i am doing some serious junk re organising...can't let Dh help as he has no idea how much junk I have (Hee hee) I tell you what my old bones don't like all this work, I may need an internal alcohol massage tonight (Calm down all, i meant a large rum and coke ;-) )
Question Author
A'noon foggies & fogies...ooh, I haven't had a rum & coke for years woofy...
Has anyone seen a plot 'cos I seem to have lost mine? I've felt most peculiar these past few days...a bit less drained today but someone seems to have removed my brain & put a ball of wool in there insted :o/. I think I overdid it at the weekend, desperately tried to get the garden tidy for the first time in 2 years...and I've been playing at social worker for the locals, which I won't bore you with. I think I just went into shut down...doesn't take much these days. Either that or I've gone into SAD & hibernation mode early.
Hope your x rays come back clear jno.

Hello Dolly! I don't think I'll be having the swine flu jab, it seems if you have painful conditions it can make them worse...(I may have had it anyway, that virus I had a few weeks ago? Apparently you don't necessarily have a cold with it, just all the other symptoms associated with flu)

To rewind a little...I never thought that Sweden would be a place I'd want to live but the more I learn the more appealing it becomes (well Stockholm does, I'm sure like all countries that there are good & bad places)...and you obviously had a better summer than we did, grrrrr. The bad news is that the men apparently are the 3rd worst lovers in the world - they're too quick, hahaha...hey ho, might as well keep me hairnet on then. It took me some time to recall that dream Kit, but yes it finally sounded vaguely familiar...I think I actually found the dessert really exists didn't I?

Jude, good luck with the diet, I'd hate to give up sweet things...but exercise? Crikey, you never seem to sit still. I've gained a little since last winter & all the awful stuff that happened but I'd like to add a bit more before this winter sets in...I'll have to collect your cake order :o)

I'm pleased Mousey cat has recovered Neti, but there's never such a thing as a 'la
Question Author
ooer, I see I was chopped off... are we being rationed now?

...I'm pleased Mousey cat has recovered Neti, but there's never such a thing as a 'last cat' is there? Most cat owners I've ever known always seem to acquire a new puddy soon after they've lost one.
Hello Biddyfriends

Sorry you don't feel so good still Robi.Hope things look brighter soon for you. I'm busy going round Sainsburys looking for stuff I can have to eat. I saw my Dr today who said that everybody should eat properly and exercise so my new Mantra is 'I'm doing it right' and that will keep me going. I am finding that I feel hungry quicker when I've had a meal than I did before but I will pesevere My biggest problem is puddings. I told my Dr. I was concerned about losing the weight the dietician suggested and he said he thought about half a stone which I think sounds better.
Good to hear from you Dolly Have a good day tomorrow with your friends.
Off out now to my son's see yer later 'gaters.
oooh dear, never a good idea to mess around in gardens, can't understand these people who find it relaxing, I just fly into a passion while trying to hack back the brambles sneaking in from next door. Dolly, I imagine Australian doctors do their own Xrays first then have a look at the pommy ones during their coffee breaks. If anyone asks you to look at mine, let me know what you see. I shall be very annoyed if it is clear - I've certainly got something there trying to choke me (it's been a month now) and I want my GP to see what it is and send a search party down to get it. Once it's over I'll probably have a flu jab but there doesn't seem any point at the moment. It's all very irritating - sometimes I feel ok and can get up and go to Tescos, other times I just sit here coughing over the keyboard and wallowing in self-pity.

I have spent the last couple of days sorting out about 200 books I can't see myself rereading and lugging them off to various charity shops. Good news - Ikea is celebrating Billy's 30th birthday (I expect Kit will be out all night) and they have a special offer - take in 5 second-hand books (which they will give to charity themselves) and you get a £5 voucher towards jno jnr's wardrobe. So some surplus literature has gone there as well, and open space is finally starting to appear on my shelves.
Morning all ~ am typing tis in bed feeling very debauched!!! wifi is a wonderful thing, although I did post last night and it hasn't appeared!..Have almost caught up with the soaps, just last nights to do today. Can I ask someone re Eastenders - did Christain and Syed actually "do it" or just kiss. I know, I know, I,m too innocent for this world.

Hope all yhe aches and pains are clearing up, just don,t get me started on mine. Why does jude have to go on a diet? Is it cos of ill health or just slight plumpness? I was shocked in England when i used scales that were in stones, cos kilos don,t sound so bad.

laters!
sorry about the apostrophes, they are in a different place on the laptop - hence the rubbish!!!
Hi Biddies

I am sitting in my study (well junk room actually) typing this with my feet up on the desk 'cos puddy cat brought in one of her live mouses yesterday - she always brings them home live and kicking drops them and then loses interest. We just couldn't catch it and it ended up running into this room. Now have traps down as a last resort and I won't be staying in here for very long. Not worried by mice but I don't wan't one running up me leg.

I have had a quick browse and:

Hope your results are OK jno, or if not OK they find something they can put right. Hope you feel better soon.

Hope you feel better today Robbie. I am wondering whether it was swine flu I had early last month. I didn't get a cold with it, but I felt so ill and had a really high temperature, headache, earache and a slight dry cough.

Why are you having to lose weight Jude. Your weight sounds just right to me. I have lost quite a lot of weight but going by my BMI readings am still 1st. overweight. If I lost another stone I will look even more haggard than I do now.

Nice to see you Dolly. I phoned my Aunt who lives on the Central Coast and she said the dust storms were pretty awful, but not red where she lives.

Neti, I am so please that puddy cat is OK. It's such a worry when an animal is ill. My friend lives in Murcia up in the hills and I haven't spoken to her for a week or so. I am wondering if she is getting the storms too. She had trouble with her roof during the last load of storms and has now had it repaired. So I am keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Hi Swedeheart. I am packing my case this week and will be with you shortly for an extended stay. Stockholm looks and sounds really lovely.

Am leaving off here, in case I have over posted.

To be continued.................
Back now, I have been FAO'd by the physician and am having a good time elsewhere!!!!

Anyway, had a really good day yesterday in Norwich with a very dear friend. Chatting over coffee and Italian food for most of the time, but with some retail therapy thrown in for good measure. Got back to the car park and had lost my ticket so had to pay a £5.00 fine to get out!

Still bone dry here. On the news this morning that over in Shaney's part of the county they have had to abandon the football matches because the pitch is hard baked and is danger!!

All my rain dances have been to no avail!!!

See you soon Biddies

xxxxx
Hi Woofie. Didn't mean to leave you out ;o) x
