It' all a bit of a non event ( at least until the BBC decided to remove the scene) and tbh if it was a 'lesbian kiss' it was the least erotic thing I've ever seen. It was an air exchange between two lesbian characters, not quite the same thing, nothing erotic or sexual about it at all. Should it have been removed because someone's sensibiities got upset? Why do you shy away from criticising the BBC, because isn't it the BBC who started all this by cutting the scene from their Asian audiences in the first place, because it might be labelled 'a Lesbian' kiss?

If they hadn't made that connection themselves and then to ban it from certain audiences, there wouldn't have been a story for the Daily Mail to print and consequently I and Peter Thatchet, and all those on AB, would have not been provided with a story to comment on.

Its almost unbelievable that this childrens TV program should have resulted in such a long, drawn out debate, and I am aware that I am part of it. Lets not forget...this is fiction, and not very well written fiction at that.

One certainly gets some intelligent questions on here,
If the BBC had not removed the scene, there would have been no Daily Mail story, and therefore we would not have been made aware of it.
Also who said I am upset, it would appear that from this there are many others who are the ones that are more upset over this, than I could ever be.

wow 108 replies to a thread about a 'childrens' TV programme lol!If I can just interject among the feather ruffling and pontification and remind the good people that if K9 been a female doggy and had needed to give an 'oxygen transfer' to one of Dr. Whos' lovely female assistants, I think anyone's sanity would have been questions if they described that as a lesbian kiss.
I have lived in North America and watched UK produced programs that have been hacked to death because of the countries policies on swearing or other content deemed 'unsuitable'. Try watching Gordon Ramsey in North America -it sounds like tubular bells. Some States in America, eg in the bible belt, will not show certain scenes -this does not 'outrage' anyone nor cause concern about homophobia . Dr. Who was 'doctored' to enable it to be sold and broadcast to an Asian audience. No this does not outrage me there are much more serious things in the world to be outraged about .

kvalidir, while I agree with your sentiments, I doubt the BBC removed the scene because they thought it may have offended certain people. They removed it to comply with the Laws of that particular country in order to sell it to that country.. Whether we agree with those laws is a separate issue. The BBC often dub over swear words and cut scenes to comply with Countriess broadcasting Laws.
