Andy, you're a very vociferous and opinionated person. So much so that you often have to issue apologies. Yet if you feel transgressed against, you don your moderator cap and threaten people. Imo, you should either moderate your own behaviour or stop issuing threats to others.(or better still, both)

Svejk - "Someone else on this site has an, ever growing, 'blacklist' of people he won't debate with and insults people on a daily basis. Without censure."

Are you going to name and shame?
AOG...if you had not brought Stephen Lawrence into this debate, it would have been much better debate for everybody, including yourself. But you choose top conflate the entirely different murders. If this has now backfired on you, then you only have yourself to blame.

Your views on the Lawrence case are well known to other ABers, and if you put "Stephen Lawrence" into the search box at the top of the page, you initiated the lion's share of the posts that come up.

Hoisted by your petard it would seem.
Well, at least this post hasn't turned farcical....
LOL Boo !

Can't disagree with that !
Svejk

Anyone can report a post. You do not have to be a moderator. If Any-Hughes is a moderator (I do not know if he is) he would not have to report the thread, he could just pull it.

AOG does seem to be more fractuous than normal in this thread. That is not meant to be name calling, just an observation.
Svejk - "Andy, you're a very vociferous and opinionated person. So much so that you often have to issue apologies."

I thought we had discussed this to conculsion last week, but not to worry -

Being vociferous and opinionated and aplogising are mutually exlusive I assure you - I am happy to be both, but the second does not depend on, nor is it conected to the first.

I will state my opinion strongly. If I unwittingly - and it is always unwittingly - upset someone I have no problem issuing an apology. Misunderstandings occur in written communication - that's the way it is, and if I am misunderstood, I am happy to try and set the record straight, and I will apologise if i feel it is appropriate.

"Yet if you feel transgressed against, you don your moderator cap and threaten people."

I reiterate my earlier post to ummmm - I have never threatened anyone on AB, ever.

My response to AOG was not with my 'moderator cap on', it was as an AB'er. If i wished to behave as a moderator, I could have removed his post, or indeed his entire input from the debate, and future debates, but that would be neither appropriate, or in my nature.

" Imo, you should either moderate your own behaviour or stop issuing threats to others.(or better still, both)"

You are welcome to your opinion. I repeat, I did not threaten anyone, I never have, I never would.

If - as it seems, but please correct me if I am wrong, your post about a 'blacklist' and insulting people on a daily basis refers to me -

I have only ever refused to debate with one AB'er ever, a couple of times in the past, and that, by coincidence is AOG, and he has done the same with me more recently - today in fact.

With regard to any perceived insults you may feel I offer - my stance is the same as always. If anyone wants to call me on a perceived insult, they are welcome to do so, and if an apology is appropriate, i will offer it without delay or reservation.

But remember, I am not the only moderator on the site, and there is an Editor in charge, if they feel I need to be upbrtaided for my conduct, then I will accept censure from them - to date, none has been forthcoming.
Still think you apologise too easily, Andy :-)
lol, I wasn't talking about you in my first post. Most people will know who I'm referring to. To be perfectly honest I wouldn't want to see them censured/censored as I find them highly amusing. Funnily enough, I always look out for posts from people I strongly disagree with. I'd imagine a lot of other ABers do the same.
ummmm - "Still think you apologise too easily, Andy :-)"

You may well be right ummmm, but I'd rather err on the side ofbeing too nice than to attack people, I really do try not to upset people, I hate to do so, and I am always willing to say sorry.

But only if I feel it is appropriate - that doesn't detract from my willingness to slug it out for as long as it takes!
Svejk - I could name two people that do/used to do that.
Svejk - "lol, I wasn't talking about you in my first post."

That's me being paranoid then!

"Most people will know who I'm referring to."

As I said, I don't but in the interest of avoiding personal persecution, I withdraw my request that you name the person concerned.

How about a response to my last post to you?
A response? I wasn't expecting you to agree with me and you haven't let me down.
Svejk - "A response? I wasn't expecting you to agree with me and you haven't let me down."

I don't - but from the lack of responses from any other AB'ers - no-one else agrees with you either!

You are right Svejk

" If you don't do this or if you don't do that I will do this towards you".

Seems like threatening to me also.

But perhaps some have a different interpretation of the English language?

No, it just depends on whether you are willing to take what you give out.

I am - others it seems, are not, and prefer to bleat about it.

Not exactly a ringing endorsement is it - a Best Answer only given to make a point, from someone who routinely never offers them on any of his threads.

But don't let me rain on your parade ....
look everyone
