I don't think piercing ears is any more mutalation than cutting hair, maybe a little bit sorer for a second or two ,but not that much sorer than a tugs when getting long hair brushed

I've done my ears and have had long hair since I was about 12 till I was about 45 I don't have any piercing now but just about every member of my family has various parts pierced, my daughter does piercing she also cuts hair

Are you seriously comparing the two?

Cutting hair is necessary, and it is dead material with no nerves or ability to feel sensation.

As to it being 'not much sorer than a tug when long hair is brushed' - the brusher is usually the person whose hair is involved, which means they can gauge the force and pressure used. And long hair is a choice - piercing a baby is not - for the baby at least.

Oh, and I think that baby in the film might argue that it hurt rather more than hair brushing - but of course, she is not old enough to articulate her pain, which makes the infliction of it that much more barbaric.

I am willing to bet that you got your ears pierced when you were old enough to want it - not have it inflicted on you like the poor little souls we are debating about.

Adult ear piercing is not the issue under discussion - nor is hair cutting.
