It is impractical to carry out checks at airports, but I think the very suggestion would deter most parents from buying tickets at all. Of course they’d probably seek cutters in this country instead but we would then have a greater chance of consigning this atrocity to history - here at least.
From the NSPCC. we don't know.

I did read it as you put it, if you meant something differently perhaps you should have composed it differently.
/// Clearly. I am genuinely horrified, Islay has the right word, that ago would condone abuse of little girls because of his hatred of Islam. ///
Perhaps you should have typed:
Clearly. I am genuinely horrified, that ago would condone abuse of little girls because of his hatred of Islam.
But even then, I did not say that "I would condone abuse of little girls" no matter of what religion they followed or not.

Desperate times call for desperate measures?
So, just to clarify - we’re talking about a system whereby in every major UK airport, a team of dedicated gynaecologists are on standby ready to check whether a girl has been subject to FGM.
The team would have the legal right to separate these children from their parents for the exam, and this would be done in a dedicated area the airport, right?
And as for this ‘quick look’ thing.
Is that how FGM is detected?
By a glance?
Or, is it more like a process where the child has to take of her underwear, whilst a stranger opens her legs and examines her vagina to determine whether her clitoris has been cut?
Isn’t that it?
Now, can you imagine how much fun it will be for the average ‘targetted’ family going abroad each year, knowing that little Nadia will have her vagina examined flying out of and coming back into the country?
Desperate times indeed.

FGM needs to be tackled, but coming up with dumbass solutions is not the way.
It will be killed off by education, and it will be killed off by generational change.
It’s already happened in other ways.
Many years ago, it was common in London and other large cities to see Africans with scars in their faces. Remember that? I’m sure you all do.
Now, spool forward to 2018...it’s died out completely. It’s not the cultural norm. As generations move further away from their cultural origins, what was acceptable years ago becomes alien.
FGM is not exactly the same because of the secrecy. Education is the answer.
