//So why are people on this thread blaming Islam?//

Because the people we are attempting to deal with in this country are Muslims.

//It is far more prevalent in other religions.....including Christianity.//

No, it isn’t.

/// There were 1,060 newly recorded cases of FGM reported in England, between July 2017 and September 2017. ///

1,060 newly recorded cases in just a couple of months, in England alone and still no one taken to task over them, WHY?????
How do you know that no one has been taken to task over them?
Let’s just think about it for a moment.

At what point can these girls be examined?

This is by nature a secretive practice. So what protocols need to be established for an examination order to be enforced.

Can we, at this point, dump the crazy idea of medical facilities staffed by gynaecologists at airports?
-- answer removed --
I don't think anyone has been prosecuted, Islay - apart from the doctor I mentioned earlier who it transpired was actually trying to repair some of the previous damage done to his patient and was subsequently acquitted.

/// How do you know that no one has been taken to task over them? ///

Because it is widely reported that no arrests have been made to date.

But I must admit that I don't know if any have been given a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again.
SP, //Can we, at this point, dump the crazy idea of medical facilities staffed by gynaecologists at airports? //

You're the only one who mentioned medical facilities and gynaecologists at airports. Dump the idea if you wish.
Ahh you so neither of you can be sure then.
Interesting - thank you for getting back to me :-)

This answers your question sp, so there must have been some form of examinations taken place so as to discover these.

Islay, do you know differently?

What and who are you referring to?
I appear to know the same as you!
Oh right. I thought we might be in for a bit of enlightenment there, Islay.

Actually I just had a quick google and it appears that a man from London was to be charged just a couple of months ago, but I can find no report of the result of the prosecution. Perhaps it hasn't happened or perhaps he's still awaiting trial.

How many of those newly recorded cases concerned women over 20 who had it done many years ago before they came to the UK?
Nothing can be done under the law for them - what is important is how many cases have been recorded of recent mutilation of minors.
hc4361, //How many of those newly recorded cases concerned women over 20 who had it done many years ago before they came to the UK? //

I'd say the majority. Much of it is not discovered until a woman is pregnant or about to give birth.
Exactly so, naomi

Consider it dumped.

I’m still curious to know how the authorities are going to identify the girls concerned.

Well for starters some children end up in hospital at some time, or are taken to A&E for example.
