\\Thunberg said in a statement that “like the climate crisis, the coronavirus pandemic is a child-rights crisis” that will affect youngsters now and in the long-term, especially the most vulnerable.//

//She's not wrong about climate change,...// She's wrong insofar as her criticism should be directed towards those who are exacerbating the problem to the greatest degree. That is China (30% of global emissions) the USA (14%) and India (7%). That's half of all global emissions. The UK is responsible for just over 1%. It could reduce its share to nothing...

tomus - // // You don't know me from Adam, //

But I do. I've read many posts that you've made on this site, on lots of different issues. So unless they're all completely fictitious in the sense that you're fabricating a character and opinions that aren't your own then I think I know you a little bit. //

OK, then based on my posts on here, you know that I don't actually 'hate' anyone, although I do loathe and despise a number of people.

You also know that I am an empathetic person, and I do feel and express concern for individuals who I feel are being manipulated and ill treated.

The worst you can say about me is that I do go on a bit, and I like to win the day, but I can live with those two character factors.

So can we agree - I don't 'hate' Ms Thunberg, and I am concerned for her well-being and I do loathe and despise her parents for their indefensible behaviour towards her - how's that?

Wow, I am flattered - someone has been reading my posting history closely enough to figure they know how I think and feel!!
Yes that's right dimwits. I joined a couple of weeks ago and read through everyone's posting history just to get up to speed.

It couldn't possibly be that I've been visiting this site for over 10 years under a different user name. Jeez.
Jeez? Doesn't ring a bell with me.

Ok not hate then. That's a fair point. I'm often accused of hating Donald Trump just because I criticise him, but I don't hate him at all.

What I do think though is that your concern for Ms Thunberg's welfare is false. You will deny it of course, and I still won't believe you, so we may as well leave that there.

Oh well, it was nice while it lasted …

Still, I appreciate the attention to my posts - hope I can keep you riveted and informed for a long time.
Sounds like that dopey bird who used to post pretending to be a bloke again.
The dopey was superfluous, togo. ;-)

Riveted, certainly.

Can we go for riveted and amused?

As the song says - two out of three ain't bad ...
Spicey chimed in because I mentioned Trump. lol. Predictable as ever.
Andy, riveted and amused would be fair. Let's agree on that.
Get it right. I joined in before you mentioned Donald. (just in case)

Chimed 'back' in then if you insist on accuracy.

If, as you say, you have read my posts on Ms Thunberg, you will have noted my position regarding her, and her notoriety - and you will have read my concern expressed many times - I am nothing if not consistent.

If you don't believe me, that's your choice, but only one of us knows the truth about my view.

Yes, and I've never felt from any of it that you have the slightest concern for her welfare. You've always given the impression - actually no, you've outright stated on several occasions that you just don't like being lectured to by an inexperienced kid that's too young to know what she's talking about.
I've said many times, and I shall carry on doing so. She's not wrong about climate change, but adults just can't accept it, as been said, because she's young, that's what they don't like. You can play with percentages of pollution in various parts of the world as much as you like, blame China if you like, blame America if you like, but remember you support these countries by buying goods from the.
I have said earlier in this thread, that what she's trying to achieve is impossible. The world will not change.
However, the fact that she keeps going on about it doesn't bother me in the slightest. Why on earth would it? It has zero effect on anything I do. You don't even have to listen to it if you don't want to. You have to seek it out and read it in order to object to it. Find something better to do.

I absolutely stand by that view, and have stated it many times.

But I have also posted - usually in the same posts, that I am concerned for her well-being because I am.

The important thing to understand is that contempt for the broadcast ill-formed views of a child too young to know of what she is speaking, and only platformed by cynical adults - and concern for her welfare are, in fact, mutually exclusive.

I have raised three daughters through adolescence, and believe me, the pompous ignorant guff I have heard spouted across hundreds of mealtimes means that I am exceedingly well-versed in the tendency for adolescents whose actual knowledge of the world is inversely proportional to the amount of knowledge that they think they possess - and are seriously keen to share with their dopey parents who know nothing about anything.

But that didn't stop me loving my daughters with all the love I possess, and a fierce desire to make sure that they became adults knowing that what they spouted was nonsense, but that is perfectly OK, because that is what teenagers do, it's a vital part of growing up.

Ms. Thunberg however is not permitted to share her ignorance and passion, which are in equal measure at her age, simply with her family and peers - she is touted as some kind of messiah who 'knows more' simply because she has mental challenges.

That is unforgivable cynicism, and it does concern me, and I do loathe and despise her parents for spoiling her life by convincing her she is something she is clearly not, and sitting in the background banking the cheques.

I hope that's cleared up any misunderstanding.
