... would like to find some excuse for this second breach of lockdown - after he was well and back at work - and when (presumably) the 'childcare' emergency was no longer valid reason?

maggiebee // I'd like to know what hold Cummings has over BoJo. //

As far as we can make out, he tells him everything to do and say. That's why he's terrified of losing him.
Perception is no t everything and no he should not go.

Put yourself in Boris’s position...or any position for that matter. If you had a valued employee who didn’t break the rules, and acted within the guidelines, would you get rid?

I damn well know I wouldn’t.
Sack him only when all the other rule breakers who f!locked to the beaches and the parks are a!so sacked from their jobs.
// didn’t break the rules, and acted within the guidelines //

The Government clearly stated it was perfectly acceptable to drive a 600 mile round trip, if you are a good chum.

That's not the case though, is it? What part of my post at 19:48 do you disagree with?
Jesus wept - what is so difficult that he didn’t break the rules is so hard to understand?
He did something that the rules said he must not do. That is breaking the rules.

The word 'Didn't'. Because he did.
I hope we won't read about common people abusing the lockdown tomorrow - if we do, just blame Boris and Cummings for setting the hoi polloi an example.
The thing is, I don't even care if he is sacked or not. An admission of guilt and an apology would do me fine. Its the moving of the goalposts and the incessant doubling down on excuses that gets my goat.
Even the Daily Mail have turned on the government!
Deskdiary - // Andy Hughes - 10.49pm yesterday. //

Nowhere did I say, or even suggest that i wanted you to 'belt up' for any reason.

If you can't read plain English, that's your problem, not mine.
jesus wept - what is it about this event that it takes 250 posts to clariify
Well, if you’re still asking I suppose that justifies its continuation.
Re my nauseating hypocrisy comment. Cummings 4 year old son is autistic. On 9th April the government adjusted lockdown rules for people with autism/carers of children with autism. THAT is why the government is insisting he's broken no rules/laws. I don't know why the (leftwing-biased) press aren't reporting this fact. They are out for his blood. Discrediting the government in the process. It’s despicable behaviour, and shows their true colours.
There are plenty of people who have had Covid and an autistic child to look after but they didn't all travel the length of the country for support. Does Cummings really not have any friends/relations in London who could have stepped in if necessary?
diddly, you don't know his circumstances and you have no idea of his son's condition or needs. Nevertheless self-appointed judge and jury you are. No change there.
You don't leave an autistic child with strangers.
Andy Hughes at 10.43pm.

You are quite correct, in that you didn't 'actually' say what I accused you of saying, but it was very clearly implicit in what you said.

Your spin was a nice try, but ultimately a fail.
