Yes naomi I agree they have, that's the point! Why the fuss about rising infections?
I'm with Jourdain at 18:22 !
19.47 Don't let Boris radicalise you Mozz ..Try thinking it out yourself.??????
I'm sure that I just heard on Radio 4 that Johnson has just announced that Plan B is now in force. What a surprise!
Mozz; did you ever watch 'The Thick of it'?
Did it not enlighten you about the way politics works?
Someone is always shoved out to accept responsibility and blame in order to protect their boss.
Did Johnson not hear the racket from downstairs? I mean, how big is number 10?
Dave, according to the Guardian yesterday 6 million people in this country haven’t been vaccinated. Should they contract Covid they are far more likely than than those who have been vaccinated to end up in hospital or worse. I think these measures are being taken in an attempt, not only to restrict the spread of the virus for all, but moreover to minimise the effect that thousands or more becoming seriously ill would have on the NHS. I don’t believe anyone relishes these restrictions - I hate it all - but we can all only do our best - and, on the advice of the ‘experts’ that’s exactly what Boris is doing. His best. People need to realise life isn’t all about them and stop whinging and trying to score meaningless political points as we see here in a daily basis. Like this country the whole world is suffering so instead of constantly criticising whatever the man does, get a grip. Covid is here and we must deal with it in the best way we can.
There are over 40 responses in this thread – but TTT seems silent on singing the praises of how brilliant Boris is.

Come on TTT, where are you when your hero needs you?
He realizes he cocked up with his free for all last Christmas and is hoping these measures will stop it happening again this time.
Hymie, do you expect him to be here every minute of the day? This was only posted a couple of hours ago.
People who would rather not follow instructions (that's anybody advised to be vaccinated by now, who hasn't been) are certainly a lot less likely to follow those instructions if they believe that the people giving them aren't following them.

Loss of trust leads to loss of compliance/obedience/forgiveness/credibility.
Dealt bad hands with Brexit and Covid, I think he probably did the best he could but he's played them both badly. Not going to be many achievements from his tenure, but he will go down in history books which is what he wanted I guess.
TTT has been active in other threads on this site since this thread appeared – come on TTT, Boris needs you to tell everyone how great he is.
Has he? Good for you for keeping a watch.
Hymie @ 20.32 + 21.07, Are you trying to upset the Radicalised Boris Supporters
..on Answerbank.....Good..
Further to instant reaction: I have a fair amount of sympathy for Boris, he has been dealt a uniquely bad hand. I also understand that he must have been alarmed by being so ill with Covid himself and that his personal life means that he is responsible for 1 small and 1 near-birth child. It's a tougher call than I can think anyone has ever faced.

That said - he somehow seems to have lost himself. His initial instincts were fine, but now he is kow-towing to others. This version of Covid is generally reported as not so malevolent. When, please tell me someone, will any variation of the virus not result in panic?

Boris has crossed a line here, unfortunately. Once the levers for controlling the population are established - they are not easily relinquished. I'm amazed and baffled that he has given way on the 'passport' thing. I only wish that I went to crowded arenas so I could defy the rules, quite frankly. He's lost the sympathy and co-operation of the majority, I feel.

Either vaccines work - or they don't. If they don't then we will have the sort of strictures that we now have, so these new controls don't make sense to me and I'll ignore them and carry on as normal, just keeping out of the way and out of the way of other people.
He's lost the sympathy and co-operation of the majority, I feel.

That's down to the one law/rule for you and different for us thing imo.
Jourdain, no one has suggested that vaccines don’t work. We know they do… but they don’t work on people who haven’t had them.
jourdain;
" I only wish that I went to crowded arenas so I could defy the rules"
That is a really selfish comment. You would be prepared to put other peoples' lives at risk just to assert your right to be not "under control"
Think about it.
I strongly resent having suffer restrictions yet again in order to protect those that refuse to have the vaccines. That's what it sounds like to me.
Atheist - I don't think 'the rules' make any difference at all. That's what I'm saying.
