A swing of 37.2 per cent saw Mrs Morgan win with 17,957 votes while Tory candidate Neil Shastri-Hurst finished second with 12,032 and Labour's Ben Wood was third with 3,686.
That is a pitiful showing by Labour

It’s just a shame people demand perfect because whoever is at the helm they’re not going to get it:
I agree and have said as much over the past few months but in light of all the recent revelations and debacles it is the perfect opportunity for others to take advantage
Labour certainly are not because of their own infighting so it is inevitable that others will

Labour’s performance here is irrelevant.
For the reasons stated. This was a protest vote as by-elections often are. Almost certainly N Shropshire will go back to the Tories at the general election when the huge numbers of Tories voters who stayed away yesterday rouse themselves however reluctantly to do that they’ve always done.
The fact also is the Lib Dems cannot win a general election however much you think Labour cannot. They need to realise that. I’m not hopeful of it however, so there’ll be no official or even unofficial pacts.
Also, however David Aaronovitch talks in the Times of the Tories having moved to “masters of the universe” mode. I thought of some people here when I read that! It’s not really a healthy attitude
