Once again it's Friday, which is Italian Night at the Croft. The meal is cooking nicely and I have opened a bottle of red wine, so that it can breathe! I am about to pour my second glass, but I promise that I'll let the rest of it breathe! I have had a very lazy day watching the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games. Fantastic spectacle!
This will be the second round in the reign of Sir Sarumrite and he has promised me a tighter game in which he will cut down on the possible options for links. In preparation, I have sprayed the Sacred Abacus with WD40 to minimise the friction and thereby eliminate overheating. I guess it will be sensible to get in early and gather the bonus points. Look out for his second launch, which should take place tomorrow at 8.45am with his four words to be linked being declared at 9.00am.
This week should also see the continued smooth running of the KM Links and International version of the sister game which is driven by the choices made by Kate Mepham of Hercules fame in the Daily Telegraph. This parallel game is organised by my good friend seekeerz who hails all the way from the Land of Oz. This version kicks off as soon as someone receives their copy of the DT, solves the Hercules crossword and posts the four words to be linked. This can happen as early as 06.30am! Why not try your hand at BOTH games.
As for me, I am crofter, Keeper of the Rule Book and Sacred Abacus.
Back again. Grandsons settled and I think are now asleep. Nicky has gone out with friends and Stuart has driven to Slovinia (if that's how you spell it) with 2 other people to complete a boat he has sold. (putting masts on it and painting the bottom and electrics etc. don't know the proper nautical terms) and he will be back next Sunday.
I have been to Torquay today and it's been a lovely sunny day.
Saw the beginning of the olympics but couldn't watch it all but what I saw was very impressive
Strix, sorry to hear about your dog. I have left mine behind and have really missed them.
Hi Pauline, i go home on Monday at about 4pm. I know I won't want to go but am worried about dogs and also Sarah is getting very uncomfortable so I do need to go back.
I will definitely come down on the train again but will have to look into what I can do with the dogs. I don't know if you can take dogs on trains and if you can if I could manage them and my luggage.
How right, sarumite, and this is what I have got to enjoy next week with my 12yr old and his friend up on the west coast of Scotland next week (well, maybe, it will keep the midges under control!)
Yes, have to agree with you there Strix, but will be off for some shuteye shortly as I want to be up through the night to watch early Olympics .... cheers (S) :O)
Early morning watch is on order to see how the eventers have got on. One of our son's godfathers is one of the officials at the equestrian part of the Games.
Stupid s*d (that is the godfather) is not running a blog!! I was hoping to rely on him to supply me with all sorts of scurrilous and, hopefully, salacious gossip out of the Olympic camp.
Wouldn't be so bad if Crofter dropped a hint or two, but all these neo-classical allusions don't really help ( I made up the neo-classical bit. Haven't got a clue what I'm talking about but it sounded good, didn't it?)
