The Club is now Open

Good evening and welcome to all who grace our portals tonight.

As some of you will know, there have been issues with the garden spigot, so all water for the animals will have to be hand pumped. The Committee has placed a sheet on the notice board where volunteers can sing up.

All of the raffle prizes were won last week, so any contributions from now on will be welcome.

It has been brought to the attention of The Committee that the moat is becoming a little odoriferous. Members are respectfully reminded not to contribute to this.

We are also looking for some speakers. If any Member feels that they have an interest , please let someone know.

I know the evening is going to be well spent as the company is fine, lots to eat and drink and great music. Ttfn and Boxy will be very much missed though.

There are some goodies here for the bran tub - see these candle holders are Sterling silver, this wine cask is a leather one and this picture frame made from tortoise shell.

As the mote is to trouble the mind's eye....
I would be willing to offer my services as a speaker on any or all of the folowing topics:

The Financial Crisis Explained (entirely in semaphore, for the hearing-impaired)

String Theory: Are there really 11 dimensions, and can my creditors pursue me into the 6th and higher ones?

Epistemology: What can we know? That is, what can we be sure we know, or sure that we know we knew it, if indeed it is at all knowable. Or have we simply forgotten it and are too embarrassed to say anything?

Solving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict by means of cryptic crosswords.

I am open to other suggestions, as I can extemporize on almost any topic, as long as I am allowed to just make stuff up.
Good evening everyone a very fleeting visit tonight I am afraid as I have a stinking cold and you wont like me coughing and sneezing all over you. So its a rub-down with a hot towel and off to bed shortly.
I have left some raffle prizes in the upper downstairs lobby
A box of tissues(oh no I had better keep them for my cold)
half a bottle of Tippex
and some corner sticky things for stamp collectors
Oh a classical literary evening how good is that, we get edumacated.
