... he escaped from his cage on the way back from the vets this evening. OH and I have spent six hours combing the thick hedges, to no avail. He's either lying very low or has legged it (and is hopefully doing the Incredible Journey and finding his way back home..) - we are sad. We're going back up there first thing in the morning.

He is probably partying with women and drinking out of dodgy puddles. Have you tried phoning his mobile number?

We lost a cat when we were kids - didn't love him as much as the animals that I have had as an adult - but little brother and I were devastated. He never came home - I don''t blame him, I really wanted a dog. ;-)
Boxy - just a thought - have you notified the chipping people?

Barmaid - thanks but no, a finder contacts them when they read his number, to find out who he belongs to. This was the way that we fund out some years ago that our girl cat had been run over - a kind lady took her body to the vet, and the vet asked the chipping company to identify us.
Oh dear.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you find him soon.
Hi box, Try also looking on 'catchat' website. Hope he turns up soon. x
Hope you find him/ or he comes home very soon
I would certainly 'bounce' your local radio station as well, boxy. Good luck by the way......
Let us know when he comes home boxtops, I'm sure he will.

Crumbs, ruthann - I am hopeful but waiting to see. I went back up there just now, the vet has already had calls offering help from some of our posters in the supermarket - the vet's planning to put a big trap out tomorrow to see if he comes back to the place of his escape. The other vet took the dog out again today but didn't come up with any indicators, so I suspect he's moved on. I'm more worried about him finding water to drink, than food, there are no puddles at the moment.
Boxy I'm so sorry, have only just seen this thread and hoped by the end you'd have found him. I know what a part of your family he is. I really hope you have luck, I really feel for you.
Oh boxy - what rotten luck. I too have only just seen this. Keep looking for local cat rescuers. I have taken in stray cats in the past and found a plethora of local rescue orgnisations - some just tiny. I contacted them all, plus local media (including radio stations) to give partial descriptions to help locate the owners of the wandering cats. I have everything crossed for you two and Rover ♥
I hope that you have some luck today - you must be so worried about him. I even found myself telling Frankie about him this morning.

******Rocky - go home (or go back to see the Vet and get in the cat trap) your mummy and daddy are missing you loads*********

Awww.... thanks everyone! No sign as yet but have been up and seen the huge cat-trap, the vet is going to bait it tonight with food and water. We'll see!
I have just noticed that I called Rover Rocky in my last post. When he returns home apologise to him from me.

Let's hope that the trap (and food) manage to tempt him and he gets caught and returned home. It's a rough time for all of you.
Is he home yet???? :-(
So sorry to hear about Rover, I do hope he returns or someone will find him to return to you. Must be awful sitting and waiting for news...hope you will soon be reunited.

I don't think he'll mind being called Rocky, wolf...!
Of all three cats he's the one who (I hope) is most streetwise, he strayed ten years back before he came to us. OH is hoping he's already working out how to get home, but I guess that could be a long slow process. I'm going up in the morning to inspect the trap just in case - he's either a long way from where we lost him, or perhaps coming back to see if we are still there.
