... he escaped from his cage on the way back from the vets this evening. OH and I have spent six hours combing the thick hedges, to no avail. He's either lying very low or has legged it (and is hopefully doing the Incredible Journey and finding his way back home..) - we are sad. We're going back up there first thing in the morning.

hope there's some good news, Boxy.. poor Rover :o(
I've only just seen this boxtops. I know what you're going through - it's a horrible feeling when a cat goes missing. (Luckily our boy came home having kipped overnight in a neighbour's attic). I hope he gets home soon, safe and sound.

It seems worse at night, at least it's warm and dry at the moment. I guess we don't know a cat feels from the cat perspective, but I imagine he's starting to miss his humans and his cushion (not to mention his dinner). But - it's mild and moonlight, he might be mousing. I feel he'll get by if he can find food and something to drink from time to time. I dare not think that he'll find his way home, it will be such a bonus if he does - or indeed if someone finds him and can catch him. I live in hope.
don't give up hope boxy, he may well arrive home!.........sometimes take them a few days!..............really hope he does!.............

So do we, welsh - so do we.
I've only just read this boxtops, I hope Rover turns up safe and well. Boots went AWOL for about 5 days, we had just moved house as well, he found his way back hungry and deshevelled but non the worse. Good luck.
Gosh, boxy, I'm so sorry. I hope he finds his way home soon. x

I am still hopeful, a couple of people have reported sightings - we don't know if it's actually him, of course! - but I'm going to go up there and have another search in a minute.
With you in spirit, boxy ♥
Oooh everytime I see this thread pop up I think it's good news about Rover and it isn't. And then I feel sad but not as sad as boxy of course. I'm praying for some good news soon.
Good luck Boxtops, I do hope you find Rover safe and well very soon xx
I have had such a bad week with my cat, and I keep looking at your post hoping, I so hope that he is found soon, and good news comes. All you can do is keep him in the spot light so people know he is missing, Good luck once again, X

Thank you all. No news, but I was contacted this morning by two separate people in the same area reporting seeing a big tabby - rolling on the floor in one case, so it's sounds like it was a relaxed cat - so I have been up and flyered all round the houses in that area (a massive estate!) - but there are lots of tree-y areas and industrial units including a food packing place. The social club has put up a poster - I'm trying to get to places where lots of people visit who might see him. If it is him, he's heading in the right direction, even if only by half a mile. This cat was seen about 9am tomorrow so I'll take a drive up again tomorrow morning and do some more calling and food rattling. There were apparently two cats seen together - which is what he did last time when he came to me, sought out a house which was cat-friendly in the hope of food.
It may not be him at all, of course - I met another very nice tabby up there this mornng! - but until I know it's not, we keep hoping.

Thank you doc - the stories of cats returning from unknown places is reassuring. It's different if they go missing from home, they're on familiar territory, but to leg off from a distance away is more worrying. However - it sounds as if quite a few find their way back eventually - fingers crossed.
I really hope the little monster arrives home soon - I bet he will be glad to get home too.

boxy I've got everything crossed for the safe return of your beloved puddytat. x
Hope you find him boxy, keep us posted. You seem to have done all you can to have him found, Fingers crossed for you.
and I hope he's suitably contrite when he does get home, causing you all this grief - he'll probably look totally blase abut the whole thing, knowing cats !!

fingers still crossed for you, boxy xx
I keep dipping into this thread too, hoping for good news. I know how I felt when Stubby was only missing for two days. It turned out that he had only been three doors away, making kittens with his girlfriend. I was so embarrassed, I had him neutered straight away! It made him a kinder, gentler cat, so all was well in the end.

Good Luck in your search. Like everyone else, I can't wait for good news of his return.
