Our cat Rover is missing....
... he escaped from his cage on the way back from the vets this evening. OH and I have spent six hours combing the thick hedges, to no avail. He's either lying very low or has legged it (and is hopefully doing the Incredible Journey and finding his way back home..) - we are sad. We're going back up there first thing in the morning.

I guess we don't know a cat feels from the cat perspective, but I imagine he's starting to miss his humans and his cushion (not to mention his dinner). But - it's mild and moonlight, he might be mousing. I feel he'll get by if he can find food and something to drink from time to time. I dare not think that he'll find his way home, it will be such a bonus if he does - or indeed if someone finds him and can catch him. I live in hope.
Thank you all. No news, but I was contacted this morning by two separate people in the same area reporting seeing a big tabby - rolling on the floor in one case, so it's sounds like it was a relaxed cat - so I have been up and flyered all round the houses in that area (a massive estate!) - but there are lots of tree-y areas and industrial units including a food packing place. The social club has put up a poster - I'm trying to get to places where lots of people visit who might see him. If it is him, he's heading in the right direction, even if only by half a mile. This cat was seen about 9am tomorrow so I'll take a drive up again tomorrow morning and do some more calling and food rattling. There were apparently two cats seen together - which is what he did last time when he came to me, sought out a house which was cat-friendly in the hope of food.
It may not be him at all, of course - I met another very nice tabby up there this mornng! - but until I know it's not, we keep hoping.

I keep dipping into this thread too, hoping for good news. I know how I felt when Stubby was only missing for two days. It turned out that he had only been three doors away, making kittens with his girlfriend. I was so embarrassed, I had him neutered straight away! It made him a kinder, gentler cat, so all was well in the end.
Good Luck in your search. Like everyone else, I can't wait for good news of his return.
