Having read through previous posts AOG, I'm still at a loss as to understand why a UK court case and murder of a child has got anything whatsoever to do with the Australian referendum, but then again, being a woman, I wouldn't understand these things.

I think that most people - the vast majority understand that two married men are generally referred to as ‘husbands’.

I appreciate that you are confused by all this, so I suggest you remember this:

Two married men are husbands.

Two married women are wives.

A married man and woman are husband and wife.

Let me know if you need it clarified further.

Albaquerty... Thanks for having explained that homosexuals live as dual wives or husbands. Incidentally, I would accept the title 'Spouse' for those in same sex 'marriages' rather than husband, wife or partner.
