Chilldoubt
Obviously some 'experts' on here attended different ' Officer Safety Courses' than I attended.Sitting behind their keyboards they are so small minded to contemplate the risks that were going through the officer's mind and the fatal consequences that may have arisen for him. All the training that helps officers to eliminate a potential fatal contact with a suspect went out the window in this incidence.
Absolutely none of the advice could of been put into practice by the officer so he improvised as best he could for his safety and others. As much as you train it doesn't always go according to plan. In the Officer Safety Training Course it is assumed that you work in pairs at all times when dealing with suspects and both of you will be equipped with certain equipment to restrain.Baton, handcuffs, spit masks,. Andy Hughes will no doubt tell us what else this officer did to place himself at a great disadvantage whilst dealing with a deranged violent suspect. If he can't I will gladly acquaint him with what this officer would not be happy with and the position he was forced into due to the circumstances.
This might of been going through the officer's mind when he was up front and out of his safety zone with a deranged foreign suspect.

TB and HIV are the latest weapons against the unsuspecting officer.
Best to get in quick and first if you are off duty and not equipped with rubber gloves and a spit mask.
Of course Andy Hughes has attended these courses and knows better than anyone else. It's dangerous work sitting in a BT office overseeing a load of little girls ain't it ?
The arrest of the felon at the Mall in Manchester was a copybook arrest by GMP. Two officers. One in the stand off position. Out of striking distance with Taser covering his oppo.Suspect on the ground whilst properly restrained with handcuffs etc.
The officer was face to face with the idiot in the train and was within baton striking distance. Not good as he didn't have his baton or handcuffs. He could of got a knee in the groin also.Nothing was in favour for that officer so he improvised. Andy Hughes and Peace Lily have never been in that position I'll wager.
